Got my Mixtrack Pro today, Cant wait to start using it.

Any helpful suggestions with this?

I like your style lol. Have you used the Mixtrack Pro and got any settings you would recommend for it is what i mean lol.

Nice Display Pic by the way, i actually bought one of those belt buckles from hong kong lol.

i actually own a mixtrack pro, im still playing around with the controlls and mappers to work out exactly what it needs.

i have noticed the pitch slider is complete tosh...it either freezes and doesnt alter the pitch and then jumps 20bpm and screws up your mix. also i noticed once you change the ptch with it, it never returns back to the original bpm. it stays out by around half bpm. it is probably the worst pitch slider ive used.

the platters need some tweaking to give a decent scratch capability.

if i can get the pitch sliders to function well enough, i will also be mapping the sync button to be a stop button and the pitch bend to be a bpm nudge.

i have noticed that the pitch fader is tosh to, after syncing you have to go above or below the pitch to change or reset lol

have you found a solution to this at all?

That's actually a safety feature, so no one can come along and bump into or move your faders really quick. It takes a minute to get used to but I think its worth it :-)

so how does it work? ive not quite gotten used to the whole idea of it not working. when i want to pitch change, half the time its frozen and when it eventually works it pulls the pitch out.

On most MIDI controllers, 'soft take-over' is applied by default to the following controls:



Pitch sliders

Volume sliders

Gain knob


On some 4 deck controllers with two layers (Buttons to toggle between decks 1&3 and 2&4), soft take-over may also be implemented in the hardware firmware for other knobs such as bass/mid/high EQ when switching decks.


What is soft take-over?

Soft take-over is a safety feature that will prevent any changes from being made until the slider or knob on the controller is moved to the correct position, as indicated by the on-screen sliders/knobs on the VirtualDJ skin.

This is to prevent a sudden change in pitch, volume or gain (As appropriate) that might occur otherwise.

A mismatch between the hardware and software knobs/slider positions can occur due to auto BPM matching features of the software and automatic gain.

As explained by beatbreaker1, it's a safety feature of the software or mapping to avoid mess-up, otherwise you can always change the PITCH: pitch to pitch_relative.
 
i think ive sussed it out, if i change the ptch on track 2 with theslider, then when i eventually load track 4, the pitch slider will not work untill i return it back to centre. then untill i hit centre it wont alter the pitch at all. no matter where i slide it.

its catching on... i think i might do a vid of how it works.
 
Vid sounds good blulite, I think I get what ya mean but to be sure I need to see it happen.
 
The pitch won't work until you move the real hardware slider to the software position, as indicated on-screen by the VirtualDJ skin.

The mismatch can occur when using the auto beat sync functions in VirtualDJ which change the BPM, or when switching between decks in a 4 deck mapping.
 
nope, stll not got it... it still gives out random pitch changes...ill try to get a vid up as soon as i have time.

You register your pro software then download the registry tool and change 1 number then scratch like your using vinyl..........

ok, ta..... ive kinda found a "new way" to scratch aswell....

Its not your normal conventional way but it bloody well sounds good.....

basically create a point of a track/beat/sound etc on a hotcue, and basically keep tapping and also move the pitch, it sounds like a real proper scratch attack..... lol


I also love the mictrack pro BUT the ONLY down point was it didnt have a gain pot above the EQ pots.... BUT all i done was assign one of the effect control pots and hey presto!!!! i have my gain control!!!!

iv not had any time to work on my mapping yet on the MTP, the pitch controls are still tosh. the safety feature is complete pants. when you return it to the point its supposed to be. it still makes the pitch jump. im really not happy wit the way they work. i need to do some serious tweaking.
 
Dude its a 200 dollar unit.............the pitch faded is like 2" long. It's to small to be that precise. Move the fader slow and it shouldn't be a problem.

I've tried playing around with the sensitivity of the jog wheel in options.
Would you mind messaging me about the registry tool and changing the scratch so it's like vinyl.
