Tópico: Video cards that work.

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I know I saw something on here before, but was older and stuff in different now, and could not find it about video cards. I have an ATI radeaon 4850 and I cant get video to work properly so I want to get a different one. It will only output to the screen when Hardware acdceleration is on, but be choppy ect. Here are my specs

Win 7 64-bit, 6 gig triple channel memory, i7-960 processor, asus motherboard, 700 watt powersupply

Just want to get a video card that will run flawless, recommendations?

My laptop has an NVIDIA 8600 with 1 gig of RAM and its been bullet proof since day 1.

It is a LANBOX, so I need something like a full size. Would pefer to have 1 HDMI, 1 DVI and 1 VGA

It has 1 HDMI & 1 VGA.

Come on guys there are plenty of you doing video flawless. What card should I buy?

No suggestions or anybody using video cards that work.

I'm still using a nVidia 7900GT or GS, I can't remember. It has 2 DVI and a hybrid S-video out. Meaning it takes an adapter that will give you component out, also. It's old school, but I'm due to upgrade my gig machine shortly. To be honest, I'm not in a hurry, because my machine works great. As you know, I too use a Small Form Factor box, with XP, Dual core Intel, 2g of ram, 5 hard drives, and a 700w power supply. Will keep an eye on you, to see what you end up with. Oh, I also only use ASUS motherboards, and nVidia cards.

Cool, I have an Asus motherboard and was looking to go Nvidia this time.

I have struggled with a similar issue and have similar specs. My card is a ATI Diamond Radeon 4650. Originally I was running Vista and everything was fine. Then I had a problem and ended up installing XP. This was when my video would only half show unless i turned off hardware acceleration.

Now I have gone win 7 64 bit, increased ram to 9 gb and the same card works fine.

Before investing in a new card, try increasing your ram and ensure you have the latest drivers. Other have reported problems with the ATI card and solved it by going back to older drivers.

Otherwise the Galaxy GeForce GT240 Nvidia is on sale after rebate for only 39.99 after sale and rebate. It has 1 gb ddr3 memory . Since everything is fixed with additional Ram, it's going back.

I will look into it, I have had this problem since I built the computer a year and a half ago and in that time updated the drivers multiple times. I dont mind buying RAM but I will look that card up.

You have plenty of RAM, so that is not your problem. I don't know why I have been blessed, but I have not had any video problems with any of my 4 builds. Call me paranoid, but I just think that since AMD owns ATI, they make work better together. I know there was a video-card thread that dealt with tweaks. Have you tried them? Disabled the on-board video-card, so there are no conflicts? How is it that a guy like me, with minimum computer skills, can build 4 machines, and they all work? Trust me, I am as surprised when I flip the switch the first time, and it works. Then I start pounding my chest, like I know what I'm doing

@A Man, do you have any pictures of your setup? Trying to get ideas on build I've been thinking about.

Thanks for the time

I'm sure I have some somewhere. Do want the computer or the whole setup?

Mainly the computer but the whole setups cool too.

Thanks
Huey

New drivers will not help, you need to go back to older drivers. That's been posted many times in these forums. it's an issue with ATI cards. I had to go back to a 2010 driver. All the new drivers were leaking memory!

Also, both the card you selected a more than you need for VDJ. They are more for gaming machines.

And that's the kind of stuff I am not dealing with and have the time for, the driver thing. I will buy of of the those cards I posted and see what happens, it don't work, it is getting returned for the other lol. I will use the one I have now for a future build I want to do for a new desktop for my house.

i have a new g6 hp with the adm radeon video card and get jumppy video , i been reading i need older drivers for it to work right were do i get them and how do i install them help thanks

For what its worth, I have read all the related posts. I am by no means knowledgeable on computers. But I have only recently experienced a similar issue to everybody else. I'm running Win7 on an Acer 5742 Intel i3 CPU 2.53Ghz 8Gb Ram. I had absolutely no problems until the last week. Then for no reason all my videos we're blocky and jumpy. Unchecking the hardware accelerator smoothed out the problem, but then I could'nt extend vdj to an external monitor. None of the sonique effects worked without the hardware accelerator being checked either. To say I was really panicking, was an understatement. I needed an answser, and quick.

Taking note what has been said, I decided to roll back my graphics display driver. Hey, presto, the problem was immediately irradicated. Sonique working again in conjunction with video streaming. And all videos running perfectly smoothly and seamless transitions.
For me I googled ehow.com ask how to roll back graphics driver in Win7. Full instructions took less than five minutes to follow. I took a screen print of the window showing display driver version and date before rolling back, so I could reinstall if it failed.

I rolled back graphics driver as per instructions, rebooted system, and open VDJ7.05b, loaded videos and external monitor, and it works just fine. If its of any help to anybody else, here's the link I used. Good luck

http://www.ehow.com/how_8198854_roll-graphics-driver-windows-7.html

My most recent driver was Ver 8.15.10.2509 dated 31/8/2011

I've rolled it back to Ver 8.15.10.2302 dated 11/2/2011
