Whats the script to map different beatgrid presets on a midi knob? or different buttons on a Hercules rmx?

you can't actually map the buttons on beatgrid's gui, but another user had a great idea of renaming the dll file in the plugins folder and have different plugins with different patterns. then you just activate the specific beatgrid plugin

call the beatgrids
beatgrid_1.dll
beatgrid_2.dll

activate them with
deck # effect "beatgrid_1" active
deck # effect "beatgrid_2" active

so after programming a beatgrid close vdj then rename the dll file "_1" then open vdj and program the next and rename the default beatgrid.dll to beatgrid_2

I would just name as many as you need first then program them second

I took this technique a step further and hex-edited the copy of beatgrid.dll so it uses a different .ini file. That way it loads the custom beat grids automatically when VDJ loads up. :)

I don't exactly understand, but I like the way it sounds... can I get a copy?

cheers

Sure... here's the plugin: [link removed]

Put it in your plugins directory and it will be a completely different BeatGrid effect, and will save in it's own INI file (beatgri2.ini) so your presets can be different from the one in the original BeatGrid.

This does sound nice!! 1 question though, do I have to remove the original INI file?

Nice Work

It's worth noting that editing the files like that could be viewed as a breach of the licensing agreement. Sharing it like that is also a no-no.

I would make the argument that as the beatgrid is a plugin and not part of the core virtual dj system itself, it is not subject to the license agreement.

Additionally, for someone who enhanced the functionality of a software to be reprimanded for it is a very poor customer service practice.

can i have that link i missed it !!!
