Install this program, it's free and can clear up some background services that might be at play here http://www.iobit.com/ld/interstitial/

i just have laptop set up with projector and video hd.
got this laptop as i said as my back up but also to do video/karaoke to take some ware from main dell laptop any help please.
as stated in first thread main laptop has no problems so i think its the nvidia card.

Download the registry tool:
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/2170/Registry_Tool.html
Click on Nvida bug and give it a try
Personally I've had more issues with ATI cards
Funny how things vary from PC to PC

So, it works great without the external hard drive and projector connected? Maybe one of these is sucking up a lot of resources. Is the external hard drive usb? Is it powered? Is the cable good? Did you try another usb port?

Guys guys guys.... if his video card isn't up to snuff, no amount of registry tweaking or background program removal will help. My guess is that the ATI card is just superior to the nVidia card. Can you give me the specs on both cards?
Try to find out their:
GPU Core clock
Ram clock
Onboard video memory amount and type (i.e. 512mb of GDDR3)
DirectX support?
These things are all important when playing videos. Also, you may want to get some Codec packs to make sure you have the right ones. Divx videos won't look right (or play at all) without the right Divx codecs. Same goes for MP4, MKV, and XVID.

Also, the processor and RAM of the computer play a HUGE role in playing videos. Can you list the differences between your two laptops?

i will get the specs when i set up lappys ok.
can tell you that both laptops have 4gig ram
never had an issue with the ati card.
also tried different ports ..cables ect.the hd is powered and works on the rest of my pcs/lappys no problem.

No you cannot change laptop video cards they are built into the motherboard. A 512MB card should run VDJ - I've had them do it for years.....
Try the registry tool:
Check the Nvida bug
Under video options:
Uncheck the decode in multithread.
That card should do the job, just have to figure out which settings will do it.

cheers marcel have that done will check when i can set up gear.
i got the dell to have exact same set up as main gig machine....told the nvida card was better than ati lol

Hi assuming you are still having the problem with lagging video! It sounds like a classic case of screen resolution for your projector. Try setting windows display properties to 800x600 for your secondary screen that should do the trick. Best of luck
Mensajes Thu 29 Sep 11 @ 9:06 am
thanks parkeon i will try that also when set up.
my projector has the same reseloution as laptop and skin 1024x768

If that's your windows settings for the projector then that is your problem it take too much to output at that resolution on a second screen. Regards
Mensajes Thu 29 Sep 11 @ 9:25 am
ok i will give it a go friend.but use same settings on main machine.so maybe the nvidia needs different reseloution settings on second screen

You need to completely disable the nVidia "PowerMizer" in your card with the Nv GPU Pro tool.. click on the link below...set like in the image...
