Hey guys. I have a new one for you. Please give me an idea to check and look for.
Just got a new 17in Macbook Pro and a new NS6 controller. I put the Serato disc into the Macbook and install the disc. It never asked me anything to do with the NS6 at all. It just installed and said complete. I plug in the NS6 and the little usb light on the unit comes on but it doesn't do anything. Serato doesn't see it and neither does VDJ.
Anyone seen this at all? Not sure what the deal is.

Not sure if this helps but here is what I have done.
Installed drivers separately downloaded...nothing. It never prompts for anything. Not sure if that is normal or not.
I have installed the downloaded version of ITCH and the included CD twice each.
I am not sure what to do. Have you ever spent $5k buying top of the line stuff only to have it not work at all?
Virtual DJ doesn't see it either. I can scan for new hardware until I die and it doesn't make a difference. I am going to try my windows machine and see what happens....

Hardware seems good. I used the old windows machine and it played itch like a champ. There was some drama with VDJ that I couldn't figure out but I am sure it is all in the setup.
Can anyone think what it might be that the new Mac is missing or not doing? I thought this thing would be the end all of computers. Thanks for any help with this. I really need this up and running early week so I can play around with it. I sold the old system and now this is it! If I can't get the NS6 going, I am going to have to use the DJ2GO...SO PLEASE! LOL

Digging further into finding a solution, I found this and it worked...but not until the last part. The information can be found on the FAQ of the Numark NS6 site....
If you are using a Macintosh:
Disconnect the USB cable from the NS6.
Insert the Itch for NS6 installation disc.
On the installation disk, Control+click ITCH for Numark Installer.mpkg and choose Show Package Contents.
In the window that opens, navigate to Contents > Packages.
Double-click Numark_NS6_midi.pkg to install the MIDI driver. The installer will force you restart when complete.
Relaunch ITCH for NS6. The NS6 should now be recognized.
If NO...
Is the USB LED ON in the middle of NS6?
If NO...
Remove the USB cable. Turn off the NS6, wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on. Wait 5 more seconds, then reattach the USB cable. Relaunch the ITCH software.
The driver may not have installed properly (this is very rare). Try running the installer disc again to repair the drivers. Make sure you restart your computer after the reinstallation.
If YES, move on...
Does the Numark NS6 USB Audio Panel state that it's connected?
If NO...
Reinstall using ITCH Disc (as above). Also try a second USB cable or USB port on your Computer.
If YES, move on...
On the Macintosh, open the Audio MIDI Setup utility, and view the Audio tab. Check that a Numark USB Audio Device is present in the audio device list on the left side.
If NO...
Reinstall using ITCH Disc (as above). Also try a second USB cable or USB port on your Computer.
If YES, move on...
On the Macintosh, open the Audio MIDI Setup utility. View the MIDI tab. Is a Numark USB Audio Device device present and highlighted in MIDI Window?
If NO...
Check for a non-highlighted Numark USB Audio Device.
Disconnect the USB cable from the NS6. Click the device icon to select it.
Click Remove Device option above.
Then reconnect USB and see if the device reappears in the MIDI window.
If so. Launch ITCH again, and check its status. If not, Run the ITCH installer Disk again to reinstall drivers. Restart the computer when finished.
If YES - move on...
For a case where all above steps returned a YES answer, perform the following: (note, this is a one time process):
Connect the NS6 to the computer, and verify that USB LED is lit.
Download and install the free Mac OSX utility MIDI Monitor.
Then launch the MIDI Monitor application.
Open Sources and make sure MIDI sources is checked. (this should happen by default)
Press buttons, move faders and turn platters on the NS6. You should see data sent from the NS6 to the MIDI monitor window indicating correct communication with the computer.
Close MIDI Monitor.
Open ITCH for NS6. The controller should now be recognized.
So now on to audio...just wanted to post this in case someone else had the same problem.
