soo check it out, i recently entered a Dj contest for which Dj can rack up enough votes for a spot in a halloween party rave thats going to be kinda huge soo if you could help me rake up some votes in any shape way or form it would mean the WORLD TO ME!!! i know if i win i would knock the socks off that party with some banging progressive house tunes!!!

$30?! $30 for one ticket. And they can't tell me the venue until day of, and they have ZERO big name talent. I've seen NATIONAL touring live bands for less money. This really sounds like a promoter who is looking to put more money in his pocket by "awarding" dj spots to "fresh talent."

Rather than enter this contest, I would contact the promoter directly. And I would make DAMN sure I know my $hit AND I can back it up. I would give him/her/them what it will cost for them to have me perform. This DJ doesn't play games or contests for stage time. My talent, reputation, and tenure in this business is what matters.

My guess is this evening will not be as successful as projected. I only say that because EVERY SINGLE dj I know that has done a show for a promoter has gotten screwed in some form or another, usually when it comes time to get paid. And with a $30 price tag, and no big name anybody's to help draw a crowd, seems like the promoter wants a big payday with minimal payouts at the end.
 
I'm seconding djnutz ideas, bro. I've seen DJ contests, but as the main attraction and not a way to fill a spot.

I voted for you in case it's something you decide to pursue, but please keep in mind our skepticism.
 
thanks for your input guys i really do appreciate your point of view, when it comes to pay out, i really dont care......dj'ing is my hobby soo payout isnt to much importance to me yet especially since i havent really put myself out there that much.
