My only beef is the lack of WDM support for multi channel cards.

Even using the Gigaport, channels 7/8 overlap 1/2. If use ASIO, problem is gone but I get some nasty side effects.

3 ch or advanced, same thing.

In other words, VDJ should use ALL the audio ports supported by the sound device - period. :)

Would make my situation more pleasant.

To be completely honest, who gives a damn about what the software is called. The important thing is that it works and is reliable. Unfortunately for me I cannot afford to buy it at the moment so am stuck with Traktor. I used the demo of VDJ 7 while working in a club playing for 8 hours, 5 nights a week and it didn't crash once for the length of the trial. With traktor you can be doing a 4 hour gig and have it crash twice. As soon as I can afford it I will be buying VDJ. Just a suggestion for something I would like to see in version 8. I play music from old 60's up to the latest tunes but some of the old 60's songs were mono but re-released with bad mixes ie with the drums only on the left channel and the vocals only on the right channel. To get around this I run my setup in MONO. If there was an option in dj software to toggle when a deck is playing in mono or stereo I could play these tracks in mono and all the rest in stereo. If this could be selected on each deck by a simple click on a button on the screen that would be fantastic.

I don't use this myself but perhaps other readers can advise on its merits or suggest alternatives - http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/DI20.aspx - sounds like it does what you want it to do and won't cost the earth either....
 
When you have tracks recorded with split stereo like that, it's best to load them into some audio editing software
and make your own mix of it.

You can choose to either make a 50/50 L/R mix, or change the balance a little if one side dominates the other.

You could even make a more sensible stereo mix with a bit of effort.
 
As soon as I hit post I thought why don't I just convert the files that are false stereo into mono. Just done some in itunes. Can't believe I didn't think of this before now. Maybe my age is starting to take it's toll on my thinking power. LOL.

to *keep the peace* i will not be back until vdj8 is out. cant be bothered. i know atomix will do it right. im not worried as they have been constantly improving themselves and release for release, a better product has been developed.

Lookin forward to VDJ 8! Hopefully the colors will be disappearing for colored waveforms. I really dislike Serato but I get why the waveforms are helpful for tightening up things plus it just looks much more professional as a readout. The video stuff is great, could be cleaned up a bit, the audio is decent depending on your audio device but I think could be improved. I really would like to see Virtual start to rival Traktor in abilities and rocksteady performance. Also, some company built skins, not just ones from users, would be great! Especially ones that have waveform scratch readout and video on the same screen (and no I dont mean the top of the screen waveform.)
Ohh and ANDROID TAB support for using tabs with virtual for well anything live! Would be a great tool!
 
This is Some Great News,I love the Name,The Software and Can not Wait to See what is Coming Next.Really,You have Covered All The Bases with the Release of Version 7.0.5.Keep Up The Great Work. Hopefully This Major Release Comes Before December 25th (Christmas For Some).This Will Definitely will be An Early Gift to Myself.

VirtualDJ supports VST plugins, i use this if the sound is 'panned too much'...

Nope and nope. I even dedicate an XP partition for just DJing. Doesn't matter if I use that or Win7, though; still get the same issue! Thankfully it's only noticeable during quiet parts, but it's still annoying!

One more thing I might add for the devs: Either require a controller for the free Home Edition or get rid of it all together; all it does is encourage more crappy headphone-less mouse DJs to use the software, further tarnishing it's reputation!

My Name is Moretta! and I wasn't talking me evolving, you numskull! I was talking about the us evolving as in Our VirtualDJ Community and Program, I DJ day in and day out! with Virtual DJ. I'm just saying what the Streets are saying! a lot of the DJs in DJ Community view Virtual DJ as a Novelty Program and making a mockery of the program and not take it seriously; you don't believe me, Check this out >> http://www.djtechtools.com/2011/11/05/virtual-dj-and-the-one-square-off-against-the-big-two/ I'm only stating my comments to strengthen Virtual DJ as a Program. Grown sticker skin....Blah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

I would use a more neutral site to justify your comments -- DJTechTools is a Traktor haven - VirtualDJ will never get a favorable comment from the people that post on that site. And the only way any poster at DJTechTools will change their mind or begin to have a different perception of VirtualDJ - is if Ean does a midiFigher or some other controller demo where he is using VirtualDJ. The people that live/post there believe in Ean as their IDOL - so what he say is gospel to them.


And as a 10 year user - I would say you have faired pretty well having to live with the VirtualDJ stigma that you claim you have had over your head because of the name. If anything I would be speaking 'proud' about it and not lashing out an riding the wave of the street criticism.

I will have to para-phrase a quote from our own CEO in another thread "... if the name is all they can complain about [on why not to use it] then we must be doing something right ... "
 
I am a longtime djtt reader and forum member, took part in several rounds of the Mixtrain ( a forum mix cooperative, where 6 dj´s mix a 60 minutes mix, with 10 minutes per DJ). I also took part as a video DJ in the first Midi Fight Club, a worldwide party series with such known DJ´s as DJ Shiftee, DJ Craze, Boyz Noise, Ed Paris and far more worldwide known and successfull DJ´s. Several MFC´s have happened since, from Berlin, Germany to Miami,USA.

I use VDJ for my live performances, as on the MFC´s. Also i post frequently about vdj in the forums, and have to honestly say that the blogpost´s and the forum over there are two pairs of shoes. Next to vdj´s forum, djtt´s forum is one of the most educated when it comes to adressing VDJ. They do know its great, there are also a lot of VDJ users, home, basic, pro. Everykind, and most importantly most of them seem to be registered users.

The blog on the other hand.. geez, dont get me started on the peeps that responded there.

My advice to you folks at Virtual DJ is to ignore the shouts for change; remain focused on your goal of delivering the most robust piece of software you possibly can; perhaps consider marketing it through product placement in Film and TV (anyone notice how successful Apple were at strategically placing their kit over the years making it immediately recognisable and at the same time coveted by viewers).

Congratulations again and good luck for the future.

The will install cracked software on a computer loaded with bloatware, curropted OS, and cheap soundcard.. try it for 4 days and call it junk..
They then will go out.. pay for something else, and due to what they learned last time will probably be smart enough to install it on a clean computer with a good soundcard.. and then have the audicity to say its so much better.. well no fracken duh..

in 99% of the cases out there.. you either have a low quality soundcard, or your settings are wrong..
dont wait for the update to get that fixed..
