Hi there,

I bought a new laptop today running W7 64bit as my old one running Vista died a death. The trouble is that I keep getting the following message when attempting to open the msi file:

\"this installation package could not be opened contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package\"

Ive installed the windows updates in case it was an out dated installer but had no luck.

If anyone could help, it\'d be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Olly

I also just purchased Virtual DJ Broadcaster. I downloaded the file in Windows XP, ran the installer and it kept giving me this error:

"This installation package could not be opened.
Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer package."

I cleaned the registry (using CCleaner), removed the VDJ remnant folders, installed the latest Windows Installer (v4.5) still, it gave me the same error.

I noticed that the installer file is supposed to be 31MB, however the one that downloads is only 27MB - where are the other 4MB? I wonder if the download is missing some files or is the incorrect file?

Just to update you, I re-downloaded the software agajn today at 04:49 and it seemed to work fine installation wise. I've not tested tje software yet though. Im not sure why this has happened - it never has for me in the last 8 yrs of using VDJ but I suspect perhaps VDJs servers or my ISP were interferring with the downloads to make everything run smoothly but with adverse effects.

Will update again if there are any function issues or problems, but so far it all seems good

@monk3yface - try downloading it when the rest of the world is asleep and see what happens

I finally fixed the problem. The culprit was IE, apparently the browser won't allow the file to completely download (only up to 85% complete). Tech support suggested that I use Google Chrome and when I did, it downloaded 100%, or all 31MB.

Hmmm... I'm not convinced it is a browser issue, as I was using Chrome to d/l the package
