PLease people need your help out here...
I'm a little confused when it comes up to these two items. Both are 4 deck controllers.
For me the main difference is the 220$ between them.
I just bought the Hercules 4 MX but I have the option to change it betweem the pioneer DDJ-ERGO-V. I would like your opinions in which is better and why???
Thank you xx

The 4-Mix is a compact serious piece of gear that will last, I know, I have one, but you can also buy plastic things today for maybe less money...
If your mobile, pass up on the plastic stuff and keep the real thing you already have, dam you could even use it as a ladder, wipe it off and still play the gig with it...you won't regret it....
Good Luck,
Joey....

ericv,
What don't you like about your Hercules 4MX? My intuition tells me that there's something about your 4MX that you are not satisfied with, otherwise you probably would not have initiated this blog for responses.
Personally, I'd rather have the Pioneer unit, if I was in your shoes, if paying the extra difference isn't at issue. I own a Hercules controller and I am so-so satisfied with it. Hercules makes solid controllers, but they are by no means anywhere near elite in the grand scheme of controllers out and the level of quality available.
I understand why some people take issue, at least, with the aesthetic design of the new Pioneer unit. Visually it's certainly not for everyone. Personally, I like the design. But that's just me. I highly doubt that given the price point of the new controller that it is cheap in pretty much any way. Pioneer's reputation is certainly not in the "slouch" category of manufactured items for deejaying. You pretty much get what you pay for and I believe, given the specs I've seen, build quality and reputation of Pioneer, if I had the extra 200 dollars to spend on upping the quality, personally I think Pioneer is the way to go over Hercules.

Just so everyone understands the DDJ-ERGO -- it has the same internal hardware as the DDJ-S1 and DDJ-T1. The knobs, faders caps, buttons, and even the JOGs are just like the other DDJ units. The obvious difference is the aesthetics (look) of the unit. Plus there are things that are not on the other DDJ units -- mainly the illumination elements around the JOGs and in the volume faders. The body of the unit is made out of the same plastic composite as well. It is just that it is white and not gray or black. This as well gives it a completely different perceived look.
From a 'space' perspective the DDJ-ERGO is more spread out than the 4-MX and the ERGO has more control options.
Though people say it is more 'blingy' - I look at it as being better 'lit' for when you are in a darker environment. Makes it really easy to see everything on the controller.

I hope in December, due release month, this Numark N4 model gets thumbs up and attractive price point.
(If I had to guess in USD what Numark will charge for this unit, my prediction is $399.)

Get a reloop jockey 3, I got a contour today, it is premium quility case & components, just wish the jockey had 4 mixer channels

I must admit. Impressed! Wow. I like the "tight", un-flashy design. I wonder if Guitar Center (USA) will ever carry these. (I agree with you, it needs a 4-deck function.)

Read the facts, it controls four decks...http://www.hercules.com/us/DJ-Music/bdd/p/141/dj-console-4-mx/

It could control 99 decks if you wanted to make a mapping
device_side 'left' ? cycle 'deck_left' 49 & var 'deck' 1 ? deck 1 left deck : var 'deck' 2 ? deck 3 left deck : var 'deck' 3 ? deck 5 left deck etc...
it doesn't change the fact that there is only 2 mixer channels so you cant modify the levels and eq easily

@ Huey. Both Numark decks are black. The one above just has a removable grey skin plate. Between all the Decks, I would choose between the Pionner Deck & The Numark. Mixing on a slightly bigger deck feels alot better than a really compact one.

I was a bit concerned about the ergo being "blingy" too but I still went and bought it. Thankfully you can turn off the "pulse effects" as pioneer calls them (i.e. all the fancy flashing) which just leaves a rotating pattern of red LEDs on the jog wheels which looks pretty cool.
Only problem with it that I have is that it feels pretty light and cheap. The plastic is probably quite strong but I wouldn't want to put that to the test! Its light too which makes it easier to transport although I prefer the heaviness associated with my older Hercules unit. Overall I'd recommend it for anyone looking for an upgrade!
