What genre are you going to be playing? Regardless, joining a DJ pool is the way to go. If you are going to do Electro, House, Dubstep, and Dance, I would also look at Beatport.

Some guys who are new to DJing actually think that we get music for free because we play it to the public at our gigs. I have DJed in clubs for years and there are times that we get what used to be called "whitelabel" records or CDs and even cassettes back in the day from the record companies or artist promoters. But for the most part you have to pay your dues like everyone else spending thousands of dollars on music over your career. DJ pools are the way to go...
