I have a Hercules RMX controller...I believe it came with Virtual DJ 5, but some of my music won't play...it will come up error, m4a or something to that effect. I notice that if i use Virtual DJ 7, that I downloaded from this site, they will play fine. The problem is that, then the controller can only work for 10 minutes. Is that normal? Is there a way around this?

This is because VirtualDJ v5 Console Edition is old software and does not support the latest MP4 codecs.
If you wish to play these newer format files, you will need to upgrade to the full VirtualDJ v7 Pro at a considerable discount: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html
Home FREE is limited software for non-commercial mouse/keyboard use only and does not support MIDI controllers such as the RMX (Except for 10 minutes at a time as a trial of the full Pro.)

So nothing that tech can do for me then correct? I spoke to someone yesterday via chat who logged into my computer trying to assist. He told me to contact back today, but it seems from what you are saying, that there isn't anything he can do to assist correct? The only thing I can do is pay the 299 for the upgrade right?

No, nothing can be done. The software you have is too old for these type of files. Console Edition is free software and is not eligible for free updates.
If you don't want to upgrade then your only option would be to convert these files to another format that is supported by v5, e.g: MP3 - You can use software such as Audacity to convert them.
However, we would strongly recommend upgrading. This will give you the latest version of the software and the new VirtualDJ v8 when it is released in the future.
The discounted upgrade from RMX VirtualDJ Console Edition to the full Pro is $149 instead of the normal full price of $299 (Saving you 50%)
