Tópico: Denon DN-S3900 ?'s..

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

A few months ago, i heard about a new Denon 3900 deck. The 3700's are really good and i was hoping that the new decks have a higher platter resolution. Could this be the new deck they were talking about ?

Certainly looks like it....

I really don't understand all this "We know nothing about it" stuff from Denon, after that banner pic leaked.

I know "teaser campaign" etc. but people have seen 'em, the cat's out of the bag.

Saying "Oh it probably doesn't exist", deleting topics from the Denon forum etc. is just making themselves look foolish.

Of course they knew about it. It's leaked, 'fess up! :-)

The banner is a different deck. Its not the same as the DN-S series. The one on the banner is a DN SC model which are smaller decks. This new deck (3900) shows more cue points.. (6) of them. My guess on imporovemnts would be Hid, Higher platter resoulution & the display showing more options. You also have 4 new buttons on top of the display screen.

Dunno. Looks the same (or very similar) to me.

Maybe there are two models.

Going by what I see in the video though, it looks like another CD player rather than an update to the HS5500 media player.

The screen's the wrong type. There's a CD slot.

I was really hoping they'd bring out a successor to the HS5500, something that can challenge Pioneer's CDJ-2000.

Nice big colour screen, internal hard drive, two layers/outputs, LAN capability (not just D-Link but proper computer LAN).

Oh well, maybe next year.

The 5500 was not a big seller . The denon 3700 replaced the 5500 and is close with similiar features as the cdj 2000. The CDj has a colorfull screen with library managament while the 3700 doesnt. They didnt need to add a hard drive because you can use thumb drives for your music and also have a cd player.

No, the 3700 was/is primarily a CD player. The 5500 was a digital media player.

Denon themselves said that the 3700 wasn't intended to replace the 5500, as when it came out, some people who bought the 5500 complained that a new model came out.

The whole idea of having a hard drive INSIDE the player is so that it's completely self contained and independent. No external stuff needed.

I could use external drives with my 5500s, but it means two external drives, two more PSUs, two hubs, two PSUs for the hubs, wires everywhere...

The denon 3700 has every feature as the 5500 but a hard drive. They added a Usb slot instead. A usb stick is the same as a hard drive but smaller in size and Hardrive space. When you add up all this, Its a Media player. Cd Player, USB Slot Plus USB plug to connect it to your laptop & A Ethernet port to link up another 3700 deck. Anytime people buy something and months later, a new deck comes out, you will have manny complainning. Denon is not going to tell you that they replaced the 5500 with a 3700 but, its obvious that they did. Now they have the 3900's. New products, More money for Denon.

Wrong.

For starters, the screen is very different. The 5500 has a screen that was designed for browsing through many files.

The 3700 screen on the other hand can only display a very limited amount of information.

Also, the 5500 is TWO players in one, with two completely separate audio outputs.

I thought you could add a harddrive to the 3700's and replace the cd drive??

No, that's the 5500s.

They shipped in two versions - one with a CD drive fitted, and one without.

You then had the option of fitting a hard drive caddy or the CD drive.

I personally prefer the 5500's as the platter wasn't too big and the screen was decent. It was actually the perfect unit except there was software compatibility issues.

I think it was just bad timing of the release with the financial crisis.

And it looks like i was right about them being the 3700's big brother......

I agree to this.
