I posted at Mac Tech Support Forum, should've posted it here:

Hi All,

Looking to upgrade my system. Been a while since I bought it (probably 2004) and a lot has changed since. I have 2 Denon S5000 decks and a Denon DN-X1500 mixer in an Odyssey case (w/ wheels) that I run with my MacBook Pro and u46dj external sound card. Walked into a music store recently and there are so many freaking options!

I haven't been playing for a while as I've been moving to a new state and retired from the military. New life...new equipment. I play mobile events, but I also play in clubs...I usually bring my decks when I do even though most clubs have the Pioneers setup. I play Top 40, Hip-Hop, R&B AND Latin music like Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, & Bachata. I'm a mixing DJ and I also DJ weddings and special events (and no, I don't 'scratch it up' at the wedding receptions lol). Given this info, can anyone recommend solid, reputable equipment to bring me up to date?

I'm not a fan of lower end equipment. I have used Denpn products for a loooong time (Denon Double Deck 2500F before the S5000 decks) but I'm not stuck on a particular brand...if it's good, it's good. That said, Denon has ALWAYS been good for me. I noticed some of the controllers have built-in sound cards and some even come w/ the software like the NS7. I'm not interested in switching software rt now, VDJ Pro is just fine for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Numark NS7 vs Denon DN-MC6000

I visited a local music store last night after my post and these two controllers grabbed my attention.

It seems they both work well with VDJ. The NS7 looks great and I like the effects that comes w/ it, although it may seem a bit bulky to get in at a club, especially in a protective case. The Denon seems to have everything as well, except I don't find many reviews or videos of people using them for mixing & scratching. Also, the platter seems small and they don't spin. On the up side, it is very portable and it will also work as a standalone mixer so it leaves the option open to bring the turntables if so desired and combined, they don't take up as much space as CD decks, turntables, and a mixer.

Anyone own one of these? Can you give me feedback from your personal experiences w/ these devices?

Thx

Hi,

Both are fine, MC-6000 works fine with VirtualDJ (considered one of the top all-in-ones around) and is not as bulky as the NS7. MC6000 could work as an off-line audio mixer while the ns7 don't and also have 4 channels and not just 2 like the ns7. Maybe the Ns6 or N4 could be a better choice than the NS7, however ALL those controllers work fine with VirtualDJ.

At the end it depends on your personal preferences. Check the specs and how you feel with the controller you want to add.

Good Luck!
