Tópico: Very Basic Queries & Doubts

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi Guys,

I planning to burn my mp3 collection onto CDs.
I have edited the tags of all the tracks that I want to burn and made sure that they have the correct Title, Artist, Length and BPM tags.
Now I have the following queries :

1) How many mp3 tracks should I burn onto a single CD so that when I print the tracklist details are clearly visible while shuffling through my CD wallet ? Is 15 okay or should I keep the number of tracks lesser than that ?

2) I want the Title, Artist, Length and BPM of each track to appear in the tracklist of each CD. But I do not have any idea as to how I should go about it. Please let me know the step by step procedure to print the tracklist after burning a CD.

3) I also have a basic doubt that when I am burning mp3 tracks onto a CD which track will appear as Track 1 in the CD Player and so on ?
Will the tracks be getting their Track Numbers in an alphabetical order or will it depend on something else ?

4) Is it useful to keep the Track Number field of the mp3 tag or should I keep it blank ?

Guys, I would request you to help me by providing answers to all of my above queries.
Please keep your suggestions as descriptive as possible.

Thanks

Don't get me wrong but I think that you should ask these questions on the "Nero" forum...

BTW: Which program are you going to use to burn your CD's ?

Assuming that you are going to use Nero then

1) 15 is fine
2) That's tricky. You have to use a tagger and "copy" this info to "Artist" or "Title" field since these are the ONLY fields that can be used when you burn an audio CD. In order to create a tracklist for printing with Nero, when you burn your CD there's a button that lets you create covers. If you hit that button you'll see Nero Cover Designer with your tracks inside ready to print.
3) If you are going to use Nero then track 1 will be the first track you drag & drop on the tracklist window. You can also change the order by dragging your tracks
4) It's pointless... First as I said the only info that you can use when you burn audio cd's are "Artist" & "Title". Second, the tracks will have a number based on the order you place them on the CD. What's the point to have their original track number?

Finally when you burn your CD's enable CD-TEXT in order to have your "Artist" - "Title" information visible in any device that supports it (Most pro grade CD-Players support CD-Text)

When i first started moving over from vinyl to cd it was anywhere from 15 to 18 tracks depending which genre was going onto a particular disc.

The choice and size of the font will also depend on how many tracks you put on the facing sleeve.

if your gonna make a mp3 cd why waste space ? meaning you kan put up to like over 100 songs on a mp3 disk. i no your gonna say 100 song wont fir on a cd sleeve. so then u dont what i did & passed it along to other Dj's this is what i did & do. say i made a mp3 cd called top 40 after i burn the cd with over 100 songs or so. i open (Mp3 printer) and it will print out a standard sheet size of the cd info. then i have a binder with say tabs 1-15 and in my table of contents it say #1 hip hop, #10 Country, #8 top 40 ect, ect. so what ever mp3 cd i make i print the sheet and put it in the folder in its genre tab and my cd case is in order with my binder/folder so example open my cd case and the 1st cd's are top 40 music cd's in my folder tab #1 is top when u flip to the next section in my cd case its hip hop and so tab #2 in my folder is hip hop section. hope i didnt confuse you but its an awesome system. ohh yeah = http://www.bynasoft.com/mp3print.php

@PhantomDeejay :

Thanks a lot for all the information. It is much appreciated.
I would like to confirm that I would be using NERO to burn the CDs.
Please help me with following 3 doubts :

1) What will be the order of the tag info that will get printed ? Will it be ARTIST & TITLE or TITLE & ARTIST ?
I want the TITLE info to be the 1st tag info. And as per your suggestion I would copy the Length and BPM info into the ARTIST tag field.

2) Is there an option in NERO to save the covers of the CDs that I burn ? I am asking this because I do not have a printer right now and will be using my friends printer to print the covers having the tracklist.

3) How will I get the size of the paper that fits the CD sleeve ?

I would be really glad if you clear my doubts.

Thanks

3/ there is a great tool on the market for that, there called.... scissors. or go real hi tech and use a paper guillotine, the one used in the French revolution is not recommended!

Seriously though, you have Nero software try it out and read the instructions, then come back and ask for help if you still need it.

These are questions in my opinion that shouldn't need to be asked.

@tayla :

I am sorry to bug you guys so much for such things. But to be frank I had thought that it would not take much time for people who have been DJing for sometime to answer my silly questions.
And as far as your suggestion to use SCISSOR is concerned, that is what that had come to mind. But I had thought that there might be an option to print more than 1 cover in a single paper one below the other. I can't try it right now because as I had mentioned I do not have a printer with me right now.
I wanted to clear all my doubts before I could finally go to my friend's place with my collection to use his printer for printing the covers.

Thanks

Thing is, non of us use CD's, I haven't burnt a CD in years, probably about 5.

Why are you even bothering?

Don't be harsh on the guy, it could just be a backup pack?

I make small backups of my music and you can just use a program like ms word to make your track listing sleeves. You should be able to fit about 4 sleeves per page.

I have a couple of backups on separate Hard drives, far cheaper and easier, also less errors due to burning errors.
As was said earlier .... haven't use CD/DVD backups for years, too expensive and too time consuming. :)

At umeshkrojha ? did u even read my post ?after you burn your mp3 cd you can use (mp3 printer) to list the tracks any way you want & you dont have to mess around with some little track listing card. mp3 printer prints up a standard 8.5x11 paper

@djtyme201 : I checked the Demo Version of MP3 Printer and also purchased the full version for $12 as a few options were disabled in the Free Demo Version.
But unfortunately it is not of mush use to me because it doesn't read the BPM field off the mp3 tag and hence I can't include it in my Track List.
Any suggestion ???

Thanks,
Umesh

You can get whatever info you need to print using iTunes custom printout option...
