Tópico: Windows music folders and i-tunes help

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hi there, Im having trouble with my music folders and was hoping to get some advice.

My problem is, is that when I started I had i-tunes on another laptop which I put all my music onto then I copied them onto my new gig laptop and set up windows folders with genres etc. But since my other laptop died I've installed i-tunes onto my gig laptop. so now when I search for songs it comes up with mutiples of them as they are in a windows folder and i-tunes and some even in windows media player library so it gets confusing.
I-tunes seems good as it seems a liitle easier for me to manage my folders and play lists etc. If i were to delete all my windows folders would it create problems for me? I know when I've deleted a song from windows sometimes i-tunes or vdj can't find it anymore. I have an external hard drive which I use to back up my windows folders etc, can this be done for i-tunes aswell???

I'm starting to pull my hair out as I have music all over the place.

I know it's probably been over many times before but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks - Mark

IF I-TUNES IS GOOD TO MANAGE FOLDERS AND PLAYLIST THEN WHY YOUR MUSIC IS SCATTERED ALL OVER THE PLACE?

Just add up sorry if i can't help you this, as i have suffered the same problem with i-Tunes a year ago, but as WARNING never use "i-tune" in doing your music database better do it manually or have some database software that could help you to manage music database. For me i-tune is the worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, worst, programs ever had. When installing i-tune it will ask you to let i-tunes to manage your music database, Don't try to let i-tunes manage your database as it will give you too much headache.

Mine, i did small part of it manually everyday it took me 1-year to get my 240GB music back in proper order after i-tunes jumbled them there and there all over the place. The big problems rises when your computer fails and want to replace them and if you tried to backup your music files and consolidate them sometimes one files is buried 3-4 subfolders down just to locate the files -TUNES THE WORST AND HORRIBLE MUSIC SOFTWARE.

I do my music database in VDJ because VDJ has the virtual folder playlist that you can do anything you like without moving and touching the original position and location of the mp3 or music files. I love this concept of "virtual folder" by dragging files to virtual folder it does not touch or move the original location of the files.
