Tópico: Run 2 computers with USB?

Is there a way to run 2 computers off USB with virtual Dj Pro and a denon mc6000?

My setup is a Denon Mc6000, a MacBook pro with VDJ pro, and a windows pc with VDJ pro. I know I can use the line-ins on my mixer, but I would love to have VDJ and mixer functions with both computers.

Any ideas?

Do you have a spare network cable kicking around... I would try that.. I would really ask a computer store not best buy or radio shack more like a mom and pop kind of place....

How would a spare network cable help?

I know you used to be able to use a network cable and sync 2 laptops but since we changed to VDJ7 the network part was removed. As to what your trying to do I'm not sure how you'd do that or if it can be done.

The better question(s) is -

Why do you need to run 2 computers?

What are you doing on the second computer that you can't do on the first already ?

The Denon MC6000 can only be connected by USB to one computer at a time to act as a MIDI controller/sound card.

However, because the MC6000 is a real hardware mixer, you could connect another computer and/or any other suitable source (E.g: CD player) for backup purposes via the line inputs on the back.

If you want to control the other computer without using mouse/keyboard, you'd need additional MIDI controller(s), e.g: You could add 2x Denon SC2000 and place them either side of the MC6000 and use a sound card such as Numark DJIO on your second laptop to give you separate left/right deck outputs to connect to the MC6000's mixer.

I have just give him a idea, i have tried many option on how to work it all together at a time at the moment is not possible. So i came up with a data switch is possible. I think on the future development of VDJ you need to get a work around on VDJ to support NETWORK and will be able to use 2 or more computer at single controller simultaneously. Just a suggestions if you could and this could be another superiority of the VDJ software in the future.

Support Staff-

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think it was possible, but thought I would ask.

Cstoll-

The reason I would like to run 2 computers is because of the limitations Virtual DJ has with Mac video effects. My macbook pro runs videos much better than my windows machine; however, it cannot run sonique or any of the many other video effects my windows machine runs.

This does seem to be changing, SBDJ recently ported the showlogo application.

Thanks everyone for the help, line-in input it is!

So, how does running 2 machines help you in that situation? You can't cross feed the video effects.

Why not just use the Windows machine until there is a more robust selection of video effects for your needs on Mac?

Don't see how your question (or any of the speculative answers to it) would even apply to your real concern.

This may sound stupid to the experts but why not just bootcamp yur Mac to run Windows?

I would like to use 2 PC's hooked together too. :)

My reason would be easy.... I have 2 of the same PC (C2D, DDR3, SSD), but I can't get more video outputs (only one PCI slot, and it is occupied by an E-Mu 1820m soundcard) it have Intel GMA 4500, which is pretty the same as a GeForce 9300 or so.

Both machines have a VGA and DisplayPort outputs (which is splitable to 2 HDMI or 3 DVI easily.... see zotac or StarTech DP splitters), but there is no way to add any decent videocard .... so if I could run 2 VDJ programs and somehow sync them (USB or LAN) than I could use 1 machine for my displays (3 touchsreens) and the other for the audience (the visuals for 3 or more beamers).

Or shall I just use USB to VGA or USB to DVI convrters ? Does anyone tried any of these with VDJ and (scratch)use HD videos with a good result?

Beside this, on the 2nd PC there could be someone else performing (a dedicated VJ for example), to "power up" the videos with effects, fades ect.... or another DJ with his stuff, but synced with my performance..... (and then we don't need to add an extarnal mixer... since my E-Mu would be waaay enough)

Just a tought....
