Maybe this is the obvious answer, but it should be installed on the same drive as the OS.

Why do you need 12gb RAM if the laptop is exclusively for VDJ?
I would have thought 4gb would be enough, 8gb would be extreme .......
And why the SSD, for playing music and videos a 7200RPM HDD does the job just fine!

at the moment it has 750 at 5400 rpm, so i should stick to what i have now. anyways i like it to be super fast. i have it here in front of me and downloading VDJ on to it. so 12 gig is tooooo much, shall i take out 4 gigot 8?

No problem having the 12gb, just wondered why you would spend the extra to put that in when it's not really needed for the purpose of the machine.

So much for being purely for VDJ then :-)
Seriously though, I would consider making it dual boot. Leave one side for purely DJing - no additional software such as AV, and have another partition for general use.
My current gig lappy (Samsung) has 2x1Tb drives in it. So I have a boot partition on each drive as outlined above and have another partition on each drive for media. One has audio, the other video and karaoke.
This way all my media is accessible from both sides...
Cheers,
Roy

can someone help please,
When i download vdj onto my laptop it downloads with all the regular stuff and you follow all the steps to install it and then gets to the click to finnish then launch button!!! after that it sometimes brings vdj up to use but when you click off it all together it will dissapear and the program hasnt been installed at all and no short cut either, and also sometimes when you unpack and run the folders after it will say that it hasnt been installed with the right settings!
im so confused as my laptop wont allow it to install can someone please help??
