Hello, I am seriously thinking of purchasing the NS7 but I don't see it under the hardware tab on this website. Is it native to VDJ? I want to make sure it if fully operational and works without restrictions with VDJ. I don't want to buy it and then find out that there are any issues. I will be using it for my mobile gigs, for music and video.

Any info will be much appreciated.

Respectfully, Dj VooDoo.

It is natively supported. Did you look in the hardware section?

ok, it is there. I must have missed it.

Ok so read this on another post. I am also going to give my laptop specs to see if anyone else can advise.

didn't like it at all, and software/driver support was very bad. sold it after 6 months

not to mention the 2 loud fans in the back

Nobody will ever hear the fans live. Not even on quiet slow songs.

But I agree, I should never have bought the NS7. Looks like a big boy toy and that gets respect. But it is such a resource hog that I just can't get a low enough ASIO buffer (latency). That, plus the drift when used with VDJ and I have no hope at learning to scratch with this thing. I just loose patients and quit, which is not me at all. So basically, I have an 80lb basic midi controler. Frustrating really.

Plus I had to build a desktop PC just because the MIN spec processor for the NS7 is 2.4ghz. The BEST Mac book Pro was only 2.6ghz last year.. Which is fine if you are ok with close to min spec and 512 ASIO buffer (can't scratch at all).

It just made my setup too complicated for no reason. Now it takes 10 extra min just to lay out and hook up all the cables for the desktop. A laptop would be WAY better.

I really don't know where to go next either to get rid of the drift and lower the latency to at least 128.. and still be able to mix Video. I know Itch will have Video soon, but I just hate the NS7 when I use Itch. It feels SO limited! CDJs and a mixer?? Time code?? Hoping this year brings some better toys.

My laptop specs are. Please let me know if I should be concerned. I am going to upgrade the RAM to 8GB

I would like to say that the NS7 works great with VDJ and it is native to vdj. I have used mine for little under a yr now and have not had any issue with it. I must say this tho you have to optimize your computer in order to use the ns7 if you are using a PC due to it hogging up the cpu. If you dont have the minimul specs its best that you do optimize PC for best performance with NS7. To me its the luck of the person and how well you optimize the computer. I myself have not had any issue and love it so I would recommend it to anybody. Good luck with your purchase if you do end up with the NS7 its a great toy.

Happy Mixing

Whenever I use the NS7 with VDJ and use the SYNC function it works for like 2 secs then slowly two songs on each decks go out of sync; can be seen on waveform, and if not re-synced, you can hear it too.

Does anyone know how to overcome this problem?

I would suggest going with the NS6 is your'e using it for mobile work and not a scratch DJ. The NS7 does work well with VDJ, but theres still a delay in the mic and the thing is a heavy bitch to lug around.
The NS6 can do everything the 7 can do and more with 4 channels & two mic outs. Its half the weight & a third the size.

Unless your'e a scratch DJ, I see no advantage for the 7. But if thats what you want, get the NS7FX and a nice case for it. Once set up, it does look impressive for mobile work..... I like when people say " Oh look, a record player! Are those 45's?".

Personal experience with 5 different computers, don't do it with that processor. Ram means nothing as long as you meet min specs. The only gig machine that I have been able to get below 512 buffer (latency) was a 3.2 GHz i5 DESKTOP PC. I can run a true 256 buffer with Key lock turned on, lower if that is off.

I am very happy with my current Asus Desktop (that I pretty heavily modified) set up. Just so you are aware, I did try a clean Win 7 64 bit install on a Sony Vaio laptop with an i7 processor at 1.9 GHz with 8 gig of ram and it was horrible! I returned that computer after a few days.

I also tried 4 other Laptops/PCs and was never happy with the response/latency. Just can't scratch with below min spec no matter how many cores (your OS won't use them) or how "next generation" the processor is. I had about 6 months of pain and frustration at first. I have now been running the NS7FX for about 2 years doing very well now mixing video. PM me if you want to know how to do this right...

If not, go the NS6.. I should not be such a resource hog. The quote you saw was right, it is a resource hog. Only advice, get the fastest processor you can afford. That was not a miss type, I run a 3.2 GHz i5 desktop PC, 8 gig ram, UPGRADES: Rosewill 550 watt power supply, SSD main OS drive & 10k RPM Music drive (I use 100 meg videos), Nvidia 1 gig ram video card and a few extra fans.. Runs solid

Good luck!

The NS7 is THE BEST controller on the market (My Opinion). It is however HEAVY as hell but it is also less intensive on your computer than the NS6 is.

If your back is up to it, go for the NS7!

Btw, I own both so I speak from experience with both units.

(EDIT)
I did not realize this post was an older post but maybe the info provided will be helpful for future readers.

Don't hijack another person's post, you have asked your question in a post of your own.

I run mine 3 or 4 nights a week, best damn controller for scratching and mixing. It weighs 105lbs in the Odyssey NS7 Glide Style Case. I have used. Yes you need an i5 or i7 2nd(2011) or 3rd gen (2012) for the ns7 to run correctly. I had originally a core2duo 2.6ghz(2008) it barely kept up. Processor was always at 80% or higher. With my i7 it runs 5 to 10% and no problems at all. Latency at 4ms, could even do 2ms. Also use the system to stream video over ustream and control lighting with FreesylerDMX. It has very little mic delay. It did have a lot of delay in the beginning, not sure what I did to fix it. If you can get an NS6, it will run on most hardware from 2008 and above just fine.

Can anyone provide with feedback on running a NS7FX with Virtual DJ 8, I've run into a good deal on an NS7FX that i dont want to pass up, but i'd like to know if the investment is worth it. Thanks in advance

Not sure I want to try any other controller after using it for years. Just have a pretty fast, up to date PC

Been using the NS7 since it came out, then switched back and forth with the numark V7s. Now I use the NS7II. The NS7 series controllers are IMO the best controllers I ever used worth every penny.
