I have a gateway laptop. 4gb ram i3. 500gb hd. VDJ when starting takes up the whole screen and freezes.
After shutting down a couple times it works. Then it also starts playing funky sounds like it is all distorted.
Any suggestions?

what is your operating system ? 32 or 64 bit ??
launch the task manager and find out how many processes are running, very likely you have too
many things running in the background; an easy cure for that problem is to download GameBooster (free) and use it.
it turns off unneeded processes running in the background that can interfere with audio. Get Ccleaner
(found at the Hercules site) it cleans out caches and the registry. Turn off AERO. Click Computer and highlight C drive,
right click on the C and select properties; see how full the drive is , if it's 500 gb then you need at least 75 gb
free space to operate. If it's too full you must remove stuff
from the drive. Has the C: ever been defragmented ?? That's at Start/all programs/accessories/system tools/defragment.
If it's never been defragmented before it will take a very long time....
In Control Panel set power profile to always on , then turn off everything inside the profile, no hibernation , no anything....
now it's always on , doing nothing , just what you want .....
those tweaks will help a lot
the problem is your computer , not the controller or VDJ
