The one disadvantage of the QSC I took away from the comparison video is that the QSC kw181 doesn't have a crossover built in to their sub, where the JBL sub does have a crossover built in, which to me would be a Big deal because I am going to purchase either the new Yamaha 15' or the RCF 15' top's later on this year....so you would be stuck to just buying QSC's expensive top's...limiting your choices... compared to JBL, you at least have those choices....
Not true.
I use my EV ELX115p's with my QSC KW181's. I have gone from mixer to tops to bottoms with GREAT SOUND. I have gone from mixer to bottoms to tops with thr same GREAT SOUND.
The thru's pass the entire signal to the tops with ONLY bass coming out the KW181's The reverse is also true where going from the tops passing down to the bottoms sends the full signal bvut the KW181's only play BASS.
X-over is integrated.
Take it from someone who owns them and uses them regularly.
I have used them with my behringers, Mackies, Ev's. Also used them with Altos and JBL's
In all instances, the sound was RIGHT!!! The only issue was the balance between what the tops put out and what the bottoms put out but you adjust that with the gains on the speakers.

When it comes to speakers and subs, You dont watch a Video and decide what you think is better without seeing them in person and listenning to them. It all comes down to how they sound. You can have all the best features and the sub may not even sound all that good. I have listened to the Ev Elx sub, The JBl Prx sub, The QSC KW sub, The Harbinger sub, The RCF sub etc. Some of them are ok while the others are better. The harbinger is a good sub for the price, The QSC KW 181 is a very good and packs a punch while the RCF sub has blasting bass . The JBl sub sounds ok but the low end is not good as the KW when you have it cranked up. My setup is two Jbl prx 615m tops and one QSC kw 181 sub. The speakers sound Crazy.. I am thinking about buying another KW 181 sub because it sounds soo good.

Well I have to say the fan cooling and the fact they fit under a standard 6ft table plu caster has done it for me.

Well I wish I'd asked here before I went out and bought the JBL 2 weeks ago lol!
To be fair, the jbl got it's first test tonight at a bar I work at where they've got crappy subs, and it's sounded really decent. Overall I think I'm happy- so if the QSC sounds even better, then it must be serious!

FROM ANOTHER POST.......
The video is sideways but the sound is pretty good. All you gotta do is hold your monitor up on it's side. lol
One of my powered set ups in action.
Soundcheck of two QSC kw181's paired with two EV ELX115P's. Video was recorded with my phone but it's pretty good except for the angle.

This might give you an example of how they sound, Keep in mind this was recorded with a cell phone.

Nice DJCITY like you said for a cell phone recording it still sounds good you can tell from when it distorts out a little is when the bass is pounding!!!! My butt hole is starting to pucker up!!!! I cant wait and since it's coming from Reno and I live in Vegas it's only a one day delivery. That's how fast my NS6 came in we'll see if it's that quick again. I can already see my neighbors complaining about it being to loud!!!!!!on a side not looks like the microphone is goona have to be put on hold for now!!!

Not sure if you have a microphone already and you wanted an upgrade, or if you just don't have one at all...
But if you ever have an emergency (like a fire alarm or having to tell people the bar is going to close!!) and you don't have a mic, apparently you can plug your headphones into the mic socket and speak in to them! :-D

Ya I have a mic that I got of Craigslist for 25 bucks it wireless and then I bought the guitar center special gem sound dual wireless mics I just wanted to know if it's worth the money for the Shure mic's that have great reviews. I'm not afraid to talk on the mic I just want it to have good sound and the two I have aren't so great.
Mensajes Sun 15 Apr 12 @ 4:22 am
Shure mics are the only wireless mics you want, that gem sound will be crap.
After you've tried em all you'll just give up and join the Shure club as everybody else did.

That will be my next investment... Then I should be done for awhile. As we say that then go out and buy stuff we don't need!!! LOL. Thanks Charlie.

I never had the ev sub. I was unimpressed with them. I have the Harbinger subs and the kw subs as well as all my passive gear.
