Hi All,
Was wondering if someone can clear something up for me that i've not been able to get a straight answer to online. I am thinking about buying a Denon MC6000 as i want a Midi controller that can be used as a standalone mixer but more importantly want to be able to adjust the crossfader curve for when im scratching with timecodes. I know you can change the crossfader curve on the VDJ software itself but dont like the feel of that. I've read that to use the crossfader curve on the Mc6000, you have to be using it in external mixer mode but my question is, when i have the Mc6000 in external mixer mode, do all the normal midi controls still work such as hot cues, loops and effects etc??
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Cheers

Hi there,
Yes, in external mode all the "normal" things work. The only difference in software (internal) mode is that the volume sliders, eqs and crossfader control VDJ as it mixes everything together (but of course you don't need that in external mode)
Also bear in mind the MC-6000 cannot support timecode on it's own, so you will require an additional 4+4 sound card for that to work.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for your response. I didnt realise that you had to get another soundcard as well; on my Hercules RMX that i currently use the timecode operates through that, why is this different? Is this the same for all controllers that are also a stand-alone mixer?

No, but Denon chose not to support timecode by design as it's not really needed on an all in one midi controller.

Thanks again Keith,
Does the Vestax VCI400 support timecodes? And do you know if the new Vestax VCI 380 will?
