Tópico: Settings (tweaking) Suggestions For New Computer (sony)

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Just bought a new Sony VAIO, I7 Quad Core, Windows 7, nvidia video card, 1080p, gigaport external sound card........... used it for the first time tonight and had some glitches in some songs like a stuter but more like a static skip beat thing. Any sugestions for sound tweaking?

Only 1 thing:
Turn off ANY power management while you are dj-ing.
Create a power profile that has set everything to max performance, no power-saving, no sleep timers for the HDD's / USB ports e.t.c.
Apply this profile before your gig, and afterwards switch back to your normal profile if you use your laptop for other stuff besides dj-ing.

Sound skips in modern laptops are often caused by the time the system needs t wake up a device. Otherwise all modern laptops are power enough to handle real-time audio...

I am going to work on this later tonight, thanks for the input... I will keep you updated...

Are you using a controller and Asio drivers?

Sony computers are pretty good IMO however it may be worth stopping a lot of the Sony supplied bloatware starting up with the machine.

I got a high spec Vaio SE 15" with SSD etc. but it didn't like Asio drivers at all. If you're not a scratch DJ then try WDM.

im using a gigaport ag 16 bit version and a nvidia video card.... I was using the gigaport thru the usb setting then changed it to asio, I think it got worse. I did download the latest driver for my gigaport also, and im using that.

kinda of stumped on what to try next

I know , I was using a Samsung from 09 and it was fine but it has a power issue and is in the shop, so I bought this new laptop and can not get it tweaked... its so frustrating, im just not that smart

the problems on the new machines tend to be the same couple of things mostly

like Phantom said the power profile fix is important to know and certainly works

also the Aero feature is very glitchy

sometimes soundcards still have issues

my latest laptop all i did was the power profile tweak , uninstall the barfware

and use free GameBooster ( one click turn off many background processes) ....

the GameBooster will no longer be free after the 30th of this month

Disabled Aero, using game booster, changed power settings. works fine thru the laptop sound driver. so im leaning towards my gigaport ag sound card being an older version?

The reason why new high specification computers can experience these sort of issues is because most new computers sold in stores are built with typical home/office users in mind and are not optimised for demanding low latency applications like VirtualDJ, so they may perform poorly as a result until they have been optimised. They are also often loaded with lots of unnecessary software applications ("Bloatware") that run in the background causing latency and other performance issues.

I've had problems with poor quality sound (skipping/static even on highest latency settings) using a maya44usb with timecode in the past. I found that installing an earlier revision of the drivers for it solved the issue. It could be a similar story with the gigaport. I can't tell you what version i'm using as i'm at work and my VDJ laptop is at home. Worth a try though!

so I have not had a lot of luck with the tweaking (i think I have done everything suggested).... Has been running fine using the laptop sound card running out of the headphone jack.. So I just ordered a DeeJay Trim sound card, hoping this will solve the problem

Looks like the Hercules DeeJay Trim is going to solve the problem...... Glad I think I got this fixed....

By The Way:...... Thanks for all the help from everyone!!!!
