Tópico: Install the LE version or stick with Free?

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hey guys!

I've been using VirtualDJ Free Home edition using the mouse and keyboard for a few weeks now. That's gonna change once I get my MixTrack Pro tomorrow (coming via FedEx). I know that the controllers do come with VDJ LE software, but looking at the comparisons I think I'm better off sticking with Free until I upgrade to Broadcaster or Pro Basic in the following weeks. One reason I'm pushing against installing the LE version is that I'm planning on upgrading to more gig-friendly equipment down the road...keeping the LE software sealed (and thus unused) would allow me better resale value on the MixTrack should I decide to sell/trade it in.

So, here's my question: Is there anything in LE (as opposed to the Free version) that I couldn't live without for a week or two? Thanks!

I am almost positive that your new controller will only work for 10 mins. and then do a full shutdown with the "free version."....I would go ahead and use the LE disc. The "resale value" is not going to be affected much at all by using the Lite or Demo version which is what LE basically is. I don't think anyone expects the LE disc with a resale anyway..... Use the LE and save up for the Pro version. With the Pro license, not the Broadcaster or anything else. Go with the full version. Then everything in the community is yours!....Effects d. loads, sample d. loads, mappings, etc.... MANY more things are available to you with Pro level. Not to mention free lifetime upgrades. BTW, the LE version will give you a huge discount off of a Pro level license.....

Don't! Your controller won't even work with the Broadcaster or Basic-versions. (See Hardware Support in the comparison-chart) You would not be the first user spending your valuable money on a version that won't work like you expected ;)
Like Jusblaze said: Save up for Pro or stick with your LE-version.

go for the Pro Full version... well worth spending the extra. go to the comparison page under the products drop down menu and read the complete comparison!

If you are concerned about resale value of your Numark Mixtrack Pro then don't register the software with VDJ, just install it but don't register it with the forum that way any future owner can regester it later. But to be honest I have sold a couple of Mixtrack Pros without any software for $190-200 each, there not much of a loss because of the software. Your still going to lose money on the unit just by opening the box.

Myself personally, I would register the license since it would give you a nice discount on VDJ Pro. The discount you will receive on VDJ Pro will more than compensate for whatever resale value you may have lost by registering VDJ LE.

Thank you all very much for the responses! Even after reading in multiple places that the MixTrack Pro would come with VirtualDJ LE, I opened up the package today from Amazon and saw that it came with Serato...go figure...lol.

But knowing that I'm better off waiting and saving for the Pro Full version of VirtualDJ has saved me potential headache (can't just drop US$300 that quickly after spending $200 on the MixTrack).

Thanks again!

Oh, I didn't realize numark dropped vdj in favor of Serato intro. When I bought mine they came with vdj le

save up for the full pro .....

if you are an enthusiastic hobbyist or a working professional you will be very satisfied with all the great extras that come with

the full pro and possibly feel like i did that it was money well spent and actually, a bargain .......

i know people get caught up in the hardware , and the hardware is very nice .....

the hardware does not work without the software, and that's where the cart gets in front of the horse......

get the full pro

get a little used to all that great new stuff

then make a decision at that point and you are not committed to any particular box of metal and plastic........

although the software does cost more than some of the controllers , many controllers cost double the software

but the real power resides in the capabilities of the software

the genie in the bottle is VDJ....... NOT the controller .....

hope that made sense

That actually makes perfect sense to me. I'm just a hobbyist right now, but hope to move into something that allows me to better express my love (and what may or may not be considered talent :-P) for music.

My main reason for even getting a controller was the fact that there have been too many times I've gone from song to song and thought to myself, "boy, if I could just do these two things at once" or "I really wish I had a knob to turn right here instead of relying on the keyboard/mouse".

I've spent some time now with my MixTrack Pro, both with Serato and with the 10-minutes I get with VDJ Free. I'm quite underwhelmed at Serato's overall look and ease of use (though I admit, I have a bit more time spent with VDJ). Won't go into any detail, but I know that sitting down with VDJ the first time was a LOT more productive than with Serato.
