it's probably fine , but give us some more info please.....
is this new ? and what is the actual HP model number?
if you are going to do video, then please tell us the graphics processing unit (gpu)
even if it's brand new, do yourself a favor and run the defragmenter , and uninstall anything you don't use
after that you will probably want to do some things that will optimize the laptop to play audio.....
what is the operating system?
is this it?

this is from the link above......
NOTE: Even if your computer is above the recommended requirements, it may not perform well until it has been optimised for demanding low latency audio applications such as VirtualDJ. This is because many laptops and computers are only designed and tested by the manufacturer with home and/or office users in mind, so they are not configured properly for demanding audio applications such as VirtualDJ. This guide will help you optimise your computer for VirtualDJ.
we used to make rookies print that out and staple it to there foreheads.....
but, it led to complaints, bed wetting and whining and such, so now we just give 'em the link ....

Beats audio sounds like marketing. I actually turn of any "sound enhancer" - I want to be able to hear exactly what is going on without anything added to the sound. Also, no matter what laptop - you need a simple or advanced sound interface in order to be able to listen to the next track on your headphone. Specs wise though, you are more then able to run VDJ - I use a much less technically advance laptop. Then there is optimisation, and the quality of USB or Firewire ports that makes or breaks the deal.

i tried to find reviews of beats audio and there are a few , but they are not really reviews by
audio magazines and expert golden ears kinda people ......
beats headphones are good , not great , and very overpriced in my opinion......
as an audio driver for windows , i don't know the quality (of beats audio), but there are a few audio drivers out there
nowadays that are meant for users with a 5.1 audio system/ home theatre, and i have heard some users here
say they are better than the windows default, which doesn't seem like a wild flight of imagination to me.....
so it's perfectly possible the beats audio could be good, i just don't know for a fact
an interface is what i call a soundcard ....it's just a micro mini mixer, and you need that to use headphones, yes
some soundcards are standalone ( meant for musicians, so they have xlr mic inputs with phantom power for singers,
and instrument inputs ,1/4 inch usually, for guitars , etc) and some are built into dj controllers (all-in-ones)
until this post , i haven't actually heard anyone even mention firewire in probably 2 or 3 years ....
i believe the latest usb is very fast and the capacity of the cpu is what determines the speed , so
you can't make the computer faster by adding a component that doesn't do the most basic primary processing, anymore
than a chain could be stronger than it's weakest link ......
it won't need to be replaced in a year unless you drop it , toss it around like a frisbee, etc
reminds me of mp3jRick's video he posted "Dell from Hell"......

That video card may/maynot not be enough to handle video, No dedicated graphics memory, uses notebook's main memory. if your not concerned about video, and you optimize correctly - for audio applications, you should be ok.

I use this. Take some time, and do the research. You keep asking us what you need, what do you want? We can't help you, unless you tell us what you want to do, and how much you have to spend. If you only have $300.OO dollars, than this controller is not for you.

i would say ab1000-1500 to spend. I took a look at the technics 2500 and the stanton str8 150. I dont know which one I should get though. I've been doing a lot of research. I took a look at the controllers but decided not togo that rout. I just got this laptop though. Do yopu think it willcomepare to the core i5, or is there really that much of a diff. from what I have?

btw, BEATS AUDIO on the HP's is NOT any kind of sound driver or card. It is just an upgrade in the speaker QUALITY vs. the standard HP's

If you like scratching, Buy a Used Numark NS7. A Numark NS6 is good but the Jogs are Not Motorized like the NS7 and is alot lighter in weight. If you want to buy this controller, You need a laptop That is 2.4 Core 2 Duo and Higher to run it smooth.. This laptop lis very good Since you are Not going to dj music videos.. My friend has this Laptop and it runs Nice and Fast..

M Audio Fast track pro will do, for a sound interface - unfortunately it has a somewhat of a bad track record when it comes to stability - and just last month it was forbidden to be sold on Swedish markets due to failure to meet required electrical circuitry regulations. (I've owned one too + a numark DJ IO, the latter which I use live). The reason I mentioned firewire, was because it sometimes is a good alternative (for those with TI chipset) - this is because it is considered by some producers to be more reliable then USB - speed has nothing to do with it.
