Hi there,
I am currently using my 20 day trial and I have about 200,000 MP3 songs in my database. When I play a song and I also want to search for another song VDJ just hangs for about 3-5 seconds, I mean the GUI just stops working, the music does not stop, but the interface does... I then VD7 wakes up and lets me continue typing the song name in the search bar. Has anyone else had this issue?
thanks in advance

NOTE: Even if your computer is above the recommended requirements, it may not perform well until it has been optimised for demanding low latency audio applications such as VirtualDJ. This is because many laptops and computers are only designed and tested by the manufacturer with home and/or office users in mind, so they are not configured properly for demanding audio applications such as VirtualDJ. This guide will help you optimise your computer for VirtualDJ.
in the wiki under performance issues windows you will see that note above....
you need to do some or all of the things listed under that note .....
VDJ didn't wake up as it never went to sleep.....the fault is with the computer requiring some common
optimizations......

thanks for the links/info. I will check my laptop settings shortly and apply the tweaks that I need. If I have any other others or questions and will post a new message.

try and change your skin, it might help. choose one designed for your resolution.

the tweaks are easy almost everybody ends up doing at least some of them...
you mentioned having a lot of tracks, and i don't know if they are on your C: or not....
if they are , it's possible your drive is very full and that does impact performance.....
you should have at least 15% free space......
to view that info , click Computer, right click the drive(s) click properties and it's in the pie chart
on the general tab.....
if you don't know the answer to this question , that's a probable problem area.....
when was the last time you de-fragmented the hard drive(s) ?? if you don't know you are way over due......
click programs / accessories/defragmenter ....it may need A LOT of time to finish.....
they are all easy like that......

I have re-sized my skin to my correct resolution and the CPU usage is usually between 5% and 25% bouncing up and down all the time. I've notice that the hesitation or lag when I am typing a song in the search bar is less but still there especially when I hit the back space key to delete. I have not changed anything else yet. I might just have to tweak the latency to make it completely lag free :)
I have over 25% of the hard drive free so space is not an issue. I have run a defrag about 2 days ago. I usually do one a week to keep things good.

I've played with every other tweaks suggested and my lag is still not resolved. The lag specifically only appears when I hit the back space key or entering letters to do a search in the search bar. Other then that, the re-sizing of the skin helped a lot. :)

What are you computer specs? Is your video card sharing the machine's memory?
