Tópico: Gemini CNTRL-7 - strange behaviour and bad latency

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I've bought a new new laptop (ASUS N56VM-S4060X, i7 2.3GHz, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 750GB 7200RPM HDD, 1920x1080 panel, nVidia Geforce GT 630M - 2GB dedicated video RAM, Win 7 Prof 64Bit) I've removed all possible bloatware, tweaked everything for best possible performance as found in the forums and VDJ wiki pages and then installed VDJ, the DX9 runtime updates, the Visual C++ runtime libs and a few plug-ins. Everything was working fine with smooth video playback (thanks to the contibutions in the forums and wiki) via HDMI output and HDMI splitter to 2 x Optoma GT750 projectors.

Then I connected my (also new) Gemini CNTRL-7 controller. I've noticed some strange behaviour where the cross-fader in VDJ will sometimes jump to a different position when I touch the jog (in scratch mode). Then I dumped some videos into a playlist and started autodj mode. On the CNTRL-7 the crossfader is moved all the way to the left (left deck playing in autodj mode). After playing about 4 to 8 tracks in autodj mode the crossfader in VDJ will jump to the right - about half way between the middle and the far-right position - when I then touch the crossfader on the CNTRL-7, the crossfader in VDJ will jump back to be aligned with the crossfader on the CNTRL-7. After a while (4-8 tracks later) the crossfader in VDJ will jump to the right again. I've saved the playlist, closed everything and tried the same scenario with the same playlist a few times - the fader jump will occur at different times in different tracks, which for me rules out a problem with a specific track.

I've also noticed terrible latency issues, between the controller and VDJ - not in the audio or video playback, when the CNTRL-7 is in scratch mode and you move the jog - if you move the jog slowly, forward or backwards, the audio and the spinning jogwheel on the VDJ interface (skin) moves erratically, basically jumping around - not moving smoothly as it is supposed to. When you move any of the knobs or sliders on the CNTRL-7 it also does not move smoothly on the VDJ interface as it is supposed to. I've tested all of this while outputting the audio via a simple set-up option to the laptop's soundcard and speakers. I have not experienced any drop-outs in the audio at all - not even when adjusting the sound card latency to auto or anything else, but when I enable safe-mode and moves the jogs in scratch mode, the audio sound funny.

B.T.W. All the music is on a 2 TB WD MyBook Essential external drive and everything is connected to USB3.0 ports on the laptop.

What a mouthful...
Any suggestions?

Try to connect the controller on a USB 2 Port. Not a USB 3.0. Same rule applies for your soundcard(s)
USB 3.0 doesn't play well with this kind of devices yet...

The laptop only have 4 x USB3.0 ports. Is there any way of changing (some of) them to USB2.0 ports via some setting?

Have vdj8 installed. Gemini cntrl 7 is not working. Sound plays if I load a song using the keyboard. Buttons and sliders on controller have no effect.
