Tópico: How much do you guys charge?

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hey everyone,

I'm starting off slowly as a wedding and party DJ.
I was wondering how much everyone charges for gigs, just to give me an idea of what's the norm nowadays.

I'm in Canada, and so far I've been charging 300$ for weddings.

Just out of curiosity! :)

Thanks.

$300 is my most basic package, 2 hours no lighting, extra $75 for basic and epileptic safe lighting or $100 for full and music synced lighting. I charge $100 every extra hour and give Mental Health organisations a flat $100 rate no matter how long plus $50 for lighting.

Hey There welcome to the fun art of Djing. I'm in Kingston Ont. and have been djing for 28 years now. My prices are set @ 500.00 for 4 hrs. and 650.00 for 6 hr. show. I'm really busy with those prices, perhaps I need to consider raising my prices abit. LOL. Anyway Best of luck and have fun!!!
Cheers
John

The amount is fairly specific to region, experience, and level of clientele you wish to attract. I found out years ago, the lower I charged, the more problems I had. Now, if a customer tries to negotiate, I politely tell them, I am not the DJ they are looking for.

I'm sneaking up on epileptics yelling boo, with a 1000 watt strobe light.

"for full and music synced lighting" is that another americanism for "sound to light" or something you just jazzed up yourself... rofl

if they react to the strobe light, i charge 'em 300 extra to play some Kenny G ........

i did a mental health organization once

they offered me what they said was a good rate......?

i dunno what they were talkin' about....

Music synced lighting is just a client friendly way of saying sound active, just got used to saying it that way because most clients don't understand what sound active means

I never discuss exact amounts on public forums, and I live in the US, so rates are different from region to region. It also depends on what you think you are worth. I also take into consideration the venue that the affair is being held. You will be charged more, if your affair is held at a $300.00 a plate venue, than a back yard reception. I do have a minimum that I will not go below, because I feel I know what I am worth. I also know my limits. If you need 50 up lights, lasers, multiple moving heads, photo booths, I am not your guy. Your Canadian friends may be able to help your more.

your girlfriend/wife for the night, use of your bar, & anything else that pass by my nose...That's what I say. Hope this helps!!

Not sure where in Canada you are, but $300 sounds pretty low for a wedding rate if you are bringing your own equipment. $600 - $1000 is more the norm in many areas.
