So our school (really small) is having a winter casual dance and they were going to have an iPod playlist going. I was like uhhh that's lame and offered to DJ it for them to AT LEAST have something better than a damn playlist. Problem is i have never done this before and figured i could use this as a cool learning experience. (gotta love those, right?)

So you didn't REALLY need to know that but why not. So what i want to know is this: I have my laptop with the dj software and that's all i will be using along with a mouse, now i can patch my laptop into the school system through my audio export but im curious as to how i might be able to do that but also have headphones to use the CUE function of the software....? Any advice? :)

Go out and by yourself a Griffen cable. It'll split your sound into a mono signal so you wont have a true stereo output but it'll do what you want. Good luck.

Ok, so that would split it into right and left channels so then to hear the cue i would play it through (for example) the right channel, and then i can play the house music through the left channel?
