Tópico: Headphones only work when Virtual DJ is open?

Hello, I've recently got a new computer for Christmas and I've eventually got round to re-installing the drivers for my Hercules RMX and Virtual DJ. The problem is that my headphones that I've plugged in to my computer do not work unless I've got Virtual DJ open. Is there a way for my headphones to work with my computer stuff (iTunes, YouTube etc) without having to open VDJ?
