Hello VDJ worldwide Comunity
As a typical amatuer DJ I use Beatport to purchase my music. Last Night I found out that itunes offers the same tracks in lower price. So I am wondering, where is the catch ? A quick search show me that itunes provide you only with acc files and if you like to convert them in MP3 format you "lose" a bit of quality. Is it true ? Also is there a way to download tracks in loosless format from itunes ?
Last time I used beatport, the quality of the tracks I choose wasn' t as good as I accepted and the amount of money I paid was 20 Euros for 10 Tracks (All lot of money if you compare with Itunes).
So in the end is there a catch on Itunes for DJs or I should purchase my tracks directly from there ?

Firstly, let me say, I HATE iTUNES!! so take this response as it is.

I would say sound depends on the system you are going to play it on. For a bedroom DJ, 128t o 192 bit rate will sound just fine. However if you are gong to play out at a club with a good sound system, you are going to want at least 320 bit rate. Beatport also allows you to download in a less compressed format, .wav I know some folks will disagree with me on this, but let's just say the finer point of sound is very subjective. :) Best way to have something loseless is to spin vinyl.

iTunes was not meant to be for DJs from the start. They are slowly coming around however offering remixes of tracks. Beatport is still my go to place, but then again I hate iTunes and their proprietary way of doing things.

My advice, get with a record pool. Unlimited downloads for a set monthly fee. As beginner starting out, this is one way to build a library. I belong to 2 audio record pools and 2 video pools. The cheapest record pool I have found is mymp3pool @ $20 a month. They also have some video, not a lot, but some. Another one to look at is my12inch.com

I used to hate it as well but I found out that is the cheapest way buy some tunes. I am intresting in deep house with groove vibes so I think a music pool doesn' t work with me :) I already know about wav format on beatport but is still too expensive for me (2.5 per track + VAT). I care about quality but I understand I can' t have whatever I want as cheap I want, so I will stick with 320 mp3s as looslees keeps the with cost.
Although what kind of music (gendres) can you find in a pool ? I have heard a lot about them but never used any. Is there any pool with comercial music ?

First time I purchased music was from a site with ultra low costs but in the end the music was sitty as hell! So I prefer spend some average cash than fell for this again. The good thing is that I found it out from the beging so I didn' t spend much
