Tópico: Sound quality + harmonic mixing

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hello,
I have heard a lot of debate about VDj sound quality. For time to time during gig I've seen noticed that songs sound a bit muffled and flat. Finally I realised it was about key shifting, especially when shifting down one note (or more). I was doing a mixtape and there was one song that I wanted to be shifted down (like from 5A to 10A). It sounded very bad (muffled, flattened, unsharp, lowered volume) compared to all other songs on the tape. Then I tried to rendered the song as shifted one key down, on professional audio software (it was Acid Pro with full best stretching and key shifting algorithm), and re-recoreded the mixtape with rendered song, it sounded crystal clear and A WAY better!

Anyone else has noticed this?

So what I Wish`for VDJ 8 is better sound quality (especially when shifting key down). From now on, when I have a gig at bigger club (with decent sound system) I will mix harmonically only by shifting key up. What do you think?

The difference is caused by the zplane Elastique engine used by VDJ. Software such as Ableton Live & Acid Pro use Elastique Pro, but VDJ uses Elastique Efficient. You can see the difference here.

You'll notice that the pro version preserves formants but the efficient version does not.

Thanx! Very interesting info! Does anyone know if VDJ8 would offer elastique pro version of key pitch, ot is it just too much cpu-demanding?
Well... I guess I will only use just key+1 mixing for now, it sound ok, key-1 sounds horrible.
