After 3 and a half years of faithful service with countless weekly gigs, my Sony's have finally bit the dust this weekend. My very last song of the night, I went to take them off and the left swivel joint snapped right off causing the driver to just hang by the wire.
So, its on the hunt for something else. I thought about buying another set off Amazon since the Sony's have been a great set over all these years but maybe its time for something new. I originally paid $100 for the Sony's so I know if I stay in that price range, there are a lot of options out there. I've heard many great things about the Numark Red Waves. Or I could just bump up my budget and get a set of the Pioneer HDJ-1000's.
What do you guys think....stick with the Sony's since they lasted for so long and I may get another 3-4 years out of them or go with something else?

You must have babied them, mine lasted nowhere near that long!

Sennheiser HD25 headphones are extremely popular with DJs, studios/musicians and even the BBC.
I've had mine forever and only very recently had to replace one ear pad. As always with Sennheiser, every part is available as a spare.

I bought a pair just for home and they did not last a minute. Since I only use stick while working, I cut it off and made a stick headphone. They sound good, I can use anything. It's not like I'm listening to the NY Philharmonic for an hour. You can find something cheaper, that will do the same thing. Just look around.

I found another pair online, brand new, never opened for $40 so I snagged them up. If I get another 3-4 years out of them, then cool. Well worth the cost in my opinion.

Those Sony's last me a year tops and I'm good with my gear, I use just one cup now, the one with the lead attached obviously :)

HD25s are not nearly as good as they used to be. The first pair I had (made in Ireland) are still working perfectly, however the newer pair (made in China) only lasted a few months. Cheap and nasty now.
I have had Pioneer HDJ-2000 for a while now and they've been great.

guess i'm just one of the lucky ones. we've been using ours for since 2003 and have only had to replace 1 set in all that time. granted we do treat them with kid gloves and are VERY careful where we put them and with who gets to touch them.
but at least they're better than those over-priced and over-hyped "beats".

I've had one pair of Sony head phones for over 20 years. They have been used for gigs and the radio studio. Granted, I use V-Moda cans almost exclusively now.....
