Some time ago I've installed textmachine3d but this program wouldn't start up on my PC so I removed it. (win7(64) pro and i7 processor so PC is powerfull enough to run - perhaps my GPU card can't handle it) - never looked further.
Well I have to try VPT now.

Thanks bro! I we as VDJ users need to step it up a notch........ We as a community are good at helping one another with problems but when it comes to the creative side I feel this place is lacking. Sure we show are set ups but never really go into details. We tend to wanna take the cheap route which adds to the stigma that were no more then a bunch of wannabes or bedroom djs. There's more to this then what controllers should I get or what laptop do I need. It's about pushing the boundaries and how far can we really go. Well for me it is anyways.........
I'm just hoping I inspire some people here....... Enjoy

This community is not lacking creativity, far from it. There are some very creative minds that have produced the goods on these forums over the years so I disagree with that statement, because if you have been round long enough you will see the same subjects or items pop up again and again. Now thats not a bad thing if you happen to be new.
Just like a good tune will get copied ten years after it's release, the younger ones will think it's the dogs bollocks where as the older ones have to remind them it's been done before.
The problem is not creativity, it's the peoples ability or more than likely there nature/desire to want it for free that will usually kill that "creativity" off.

Fair enough I guess but since I've been around here for um the past 7 years I have yet to see something other then an animated logo or some badass skin. Where's all the video editors, where's all the lighting buffs?? Why is everyone so unwilling to share Whig there doing with there shows or what their doing to make their shows better?? It's not here........ I wanna see and hear about...... I don't know but I'm not inspired most days when I visit here.
That's all I'm trying to do, inspire people, not rip um up every chance I get....... Show me what your doing with the software and your shows.....

You have been here 7 years? how long have chuck and I been here then, seems like only 3 weeks... I can remember when you first started posting here, so if it's that long you'll remember all the video stuff I have shown.
Rip them up, I'm still waiting for a reply to another post you made where I explained everything I have contributed to these forum.

Here is what I have done for these forums Huey, show me what you have done over seven years, and this time how about a reply to it...
Look, lets get one thing straight from the outset, I'm a VDJ user first and an unpaid yeah you read right first time, an unpaid Firetext liason for VDJ users on this site. Sure I was the guy who went out and persuaded the guys at Firetext to invest their time and money to make a working plugin so the users of VDJ could have a working sms system to use at their gigs. And look what you got, the first all in one DJ plugin thats an asset to any pro VDJ user and totally free! Yeah it's been copied but thats what evolution is all about. That was way back in 2008 and all the days and nights we spent getting an integrated working plugin was done for free by me.
Since officially launching Firetext as a VDJ plugin in Febuary 2009 all the work and help I have given to VDJ users here on the forums to get their set ups running my time has been given free to help those VDJ users, seven days a week and nightly usually until 2am on skype for the american guys because of the time zones I have done completely free gratis as a lot of them will probably testify of the assistance I have given.
The day I got out of hospital after having a heart attack and having an operation to then repair my heart I was back on these forums and Skype until the early hours giving unpaid help to VDJ users whether it was help with Firetext or something else VDJ related, more often then not it is usually VDJ or video related.
As for videos! jeez how many do you want me to do, go look at the Firetext thread and YouTube I have made instructional videos to help users all the way back to the beginning of the plugin, there must be hundreds if not thousands of vids I've made for VDJ users and even members of the team, Christ I even set up a web site forum specifically for VDJ users completely free of charge where the guys can come and download generic videos I have made or they can request custom videos which I make for them once again free of charge.
I've also had an open house through Gigatribe onto my desktop for VDJ users since the release of Clipbank way back when, upto now nearly 300 VDJ users over the years have downloaded video clips or requested custom made ones.
I can even see my ideas implemented in other software, which is quite nice really, thing is I don't mind, in fact I even encourage it! why not, if it helps someone from this community why should it be shot down, I even encourage users from Pangolin, yes I said the P word, to use my templates or run with an idea I've used in the past and they do, saw a couple the other day in their thread cool is all I can say.
I'm producing a new video template and that will be available to anyone who uses VDJ and I think it will be a nice piece of eye candy to their video shows. Your more than welcome to request a custom video, well if you think it's good enough that is, lol.
Thing is Huey, new users are coming on board daily, and if they are not giving links of past posts how in the hell will they get to know about a subject, crikey some don't even know their is a search button.. lol
Anyways, history lesson over...
You've seen the threads, there's videos on the site... I personally answered many posts here on this site, what I was pointing out to the new guys, it is not new and for a few quid compared to other projection mapping softwares it is already available to work in VDJ through the FT plugin.
What you call advertising I call giving correct and legitimate information to the whole community, as Dhoude has just mentioned he didn't know about it been available through Firetext and he still wouldn't unless I had mentioned it in this open forum thread. There are 27 pages and nearly 80,000 reads in that post so everything cannot stay current.
And yeah, TextMachine 3D is another software company I contacted as I could see the potential for it's use by VDJ users, It took time to arrange with talking to it's CEO between Italy and Switzerland and chatting with Alex in Uruguay and Raoul in Canada, all the hours spent on Skype and telephone calls did not come cheap but I finally managed an agreement to be put in place between TM3D and Firetext, I'm actually proud of that coming together of two great software companies, and once again this was done for the community with all the time and out of pocket expenses been borne by me.
So in future just remember when I make a post I make it as a member of this community with no monetary gain expected, cause it sure as hell is never gonna be acknowledged by anyone else what I've done for this community.
And Huey loose the chip on your shoulder with Firetext, you have never forgiven them for their software been unable to work in your set up, I bet you have forgotten all the hours Alex from Firetext, plus a member from the VDJ Team (apologies I can't remember the name) and myself tried our hardest to get it to work for you, you now have another plugin so be happy.
Here's the link to the free forum.. http://visualshed.forumotion.co.uk/ and you say I do nothing for the community... yeah, right.

Yeah man...Tayla's like VDJ's grandfather figure...:p
In all seriousness, I've been a victim of the 2am Skype conversations with Tayla. We've worked on a few things together and he always comes up trumps with some insanely wonderful stuff.
I've kissed his ass once or twice on the forums so I ain't gonna big him up anymore...just...cheers Tayla...I'm sure I'm not the only one here on the boards who appreciates everything you've done for us as a whole community and individually with your video magic.
Cheers man...(",)

Lmmfao!! Well I guess this thread is all about Tayla now, seriously bro. This was never about you or your how to videos and this wasn't questioning who or how many people you've helped or about Firetext!!
This thread was created to show people the AWESOME shit you can do when combined with VDJ. I've seen many videos of people doing this with other software but never with VDJ, yup not even you Tayla or your company friends have made a video like what I did showing and inspiring people to try it out.........and if they did well I never saw them.
As for me calling you out about always advertising Firetext (which I leveled up cause I know you'd loose it like you have yet again). As far as firetext, Iculd care less, yup you helped me but it never worked as far as the other dude goes 3 emails and he never got back to me so I've moved on which hopefully you do to.......
Now before this thread was hijacked we were talking about PROJECTION MAPPING with VDJ, Resolume and VPT. Sure there's other, cheaper software out there but it doesn't touch these which is Why I roll with the best.......
So I hope these videos have inspired others to up there game and if so show it off. Post a video or two or three. If you have questions ask and I'll try to answer them the best I can.
ENjoy

Here you go, these videos should help with this thread, second one down is quite familiar
http://textmachine3d.com/PHP/index.php?Menu=Projection_Mapping&FromMenu=Tutorials
and a few instructional videos for the software...
http://textmachine3d.com/PHP/index.php?Menu=Tutorials&FromMenu=Projection_Mapping
Hopefully these will help give people a better understanding of what can be achieved and what is required to achieve those goals, whatever software they choose. Users can get even more insight into the subject if they go onto youtube and search projection mapping. Google is a good resource as well.

Yeah those are Nice but I'd much rather see a video of you or someone using it, even if it's just a small example with shoe boxes or something maybe even a human voice. I tend to trust those videos where I can see it being used in the real world not screen shots.......
But Thanks for sharing.......

Personally, I would love to see a "How I did it" or "Post your work" section here at the forum. I just posted my idea for mounting a 40inch LCD TV to a lighting tripod, with nothing more that standard lighing O clamps, some bolts and safety cables. For $30 worth of hardware!!!!
I asked to see how people mount and use projectors and got nothing back.. It happens, sometimes people don't have time.
I actually made like 30+ video screen frames that only take up about 60 pixles on the outside edge of a crowd display. Most are Holiday or Event themes, to help you "decorate" or theme your crowd display a bit. All you do is load them into Show Logo plug in and done. They got deleted from my uploads, either because they are PNG, all in a Zip folder or there is no spot in the plugins. Take your pick, I don't have an issue with it, but would love to share "non standard" plugin ideas.
I have a ton of graphics for SBDJ's Mask Transition too! No spot for that either..
I would love to help more, but just don't know how to post "non standard" ideas, plug in "accesories" and ideas of how to use current plugins in new ways others have not though of yet. So I disagree that creativity is not here, I think we need to see dedicated areas for posting these ideas and outside the box thinking. I think it might take the focus of Atomix and the current deragatory view of many forum patrons. With thier "what have you done for me lately" ungrateful posts. Then put the focus on all the outside the box thinking that can be done, with all the cool stuff that we DO ALREADY HAVE. Who cares about VDJ 8 when SBDJ and many others are pumping out some of the sickest features to hit the market!
Like Tayla, most don't even know that I linked Chauvet's DMX company The Lighting Controller (aka Show Express) with SBDJ to make a plugin for thier Live app. Passing BPM and CUE names that trigger Live lighting sceens inside Show Express. Yet people are still worried about colored waveforms or whatever the next big widget is going to my your mixing "so much better". We all pitch in here, but a dedicated section to ideas so we can share what we are trying to do and use all our heads to get it done!
Like Tayla said, he did make a pretty sweet form for that fact (posting, vids and graphics) that I happend to stumble on one day a few months ago. Man I wish that was advertised somewhere so we could get more contributions. If that were here, we might have the power of traffic. Instead, like my LCD thread, burried in the Video section that is less traveled, it just quickly gets lost and only found in searches at this point. Which is how I found Tayla's forum, searches for footage to fill my Essentail Media clip banks. If Essential Media did not drive me to search for things, I would probably still never know of all Tayla's hard work.
I have Adobe creative cloud, which means EVERYTHING they offer. But I am only one guy, you may even have better ideas! If there ideas to be made, share them. No promises here, but if we can all benifit, I will do my best!

And that's my WHOLE point, SHARE THOSE IDEAS...... How this thread got so turned upside down we'll never, lol!! But that's the point, share your ideas on how your using the plugins or what other software your using along side of VDJ. And I don't mean advertising, show us a video of some real world use not some silent crap.......... So Yeah I stick by what I said, sure we have a kiting creative people here but I don't see it or most never share and were not taking about plugin makers either here. There the ones who give us the tools now I wanna see how were all using them.....
Now can we get back to projection mapping or are we gonna keep up with the soap boxes and rants???

Lol, you sure are subtle! But love the topic so, it looks like the Fire Text plug in is how to get 3D Text Machine to work. If I read that right...
Not much for instructional videos, but I will look at the You Tube stuff Sunday and try to figure it out. Thanks Beatbreaker for bringing this up initially and Thank you Tayla for giving me the nudge toward 3DTM. Ready for an adventure now!

Go Huey!
I am sure I have a lot to say on subject :) and sorry Huey to interrupt for a moment but since thread was hijacked off topic:
DHoude, why does Essential Media drive you to search for things? I mean just searching for videos? I don't think I quite understand the comment.
You can always post a question or email me at: donmoir@comcast.net
