Hello folks,
This may be my first post here. If it is, it has been a while since I have posted. I have been using Virtual DJ for about 4 years on a 7 year old Dell Inspiron. It is time for an upgrade. I have two laptops I am trying to decide between. I do not use Virtual DJ for video mixing. I am planning on creating a dual boot system. One with windows 8 for everyday stuff. The other with Windows 7 for DJing.
The laptop choices I am trying to decide between are an HP and an ASUS. The HP comes with both windows 8 and 7 professional. I will purchase Windows 7 if I decide to go with the ASUS.
HP

ASUS

The HP has a smaller hard drive and less RAM but the ASUS doesn't come with Win7.
Any advice is appreciated! Thank you in advance for the help!

First of all...
I hate when the touchpad isn't in the middle. Have you used a laptop like this before?
I would go for HP for sure, just because of the name.
And I would avoid ASUS, just because of the name too :)
So:
HP-GOOD
ASUS-BAD
(for me)
Don't stay stick with RAM 4gb VS 6gb . . .
i5 CPU is the most important... and as they both have the same, go for the name-that's what I say...

The touchpad won't bother me. I am leaning towards the hp. My music is all stored on externals anyway so I do not believe space would be an issue. If I do the dual boot option with win7 for dj and win8 for other I am pretty confident partitioning the drives would allow me enough space for each configuration. I only plan on putting virtual dj and a few other programs on the dj side. No Internet will be used for dj. I will purchase some extra ram with the hp to push it to 8gb.
Thanks for the input.

If your dj'ing and not playing video, either will be fine (my personal choice is asus i'm not a fan of hp computers) But if you think you might venture into music videos, i would not look at either of these. Keep in mind that both are loaded with bloatware (crap programs that you dont need) so you are going to have to wipe and load windows 7 on either machine to get the best performance.
Just my 2 cents

You can do better. CostCo had a 17.3" Toshiba S875 / 3rd gen i7 / 8 GB Ram / 1 TB HDD / 1 GB Video card for $699. Mine will be here tomorrow. Be sure to check CostCo online - that is where I found this deal.
