Tópico: Version 7.4 lagging issue on laptop

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hey, i've got an lenovo z570 laptop (core i5, 6 gb ram, gf630) and im having some laggin issues with VDJ 7.4 version. It happens when i put the cursor on the deck - track is starting to run kind of laggy.
I tried all the things listed in FAQ about this sort of problem, but nothing has helped.
I captured a video so you could easier understand what i mean by this laggin:

im using win7 and my laptop is clearly optimized and has latest program updates installed on it - im shure with that.
one thing i've noticed, when im using not-full-screen mode, the track is running okay - no lags or some like that, but the deck is still laggin. im just wondering what can cause this

If you are resizing or maximising the skin so that it fills your screen then you may get performance issues depending on your graphics card's capabilities due to it having to resize the skin to the new size on the fly.

For optimal performance, you should use the skin at its normal native size. The default skin in the latest version supports the most common used resolutions. A wider range of sizes is available for registered licensed users from our skins download area.

This is information is included in the performance issues link above, so if you have not read this, please do so. Just because you a have a recent and/or high specification laptop and have installed software updates doesn't necessarily mean that it is optimised for DJ performance. Most new computers out of their box are configured with typical home/office users in mind, not DJ applications that require low latency audio capability.

Looks like a latency issue to me. Given your specs, I'm surprised to see your cpu working so hard. I have four year old desk top that runs like that with 4gigs of ram and a 2.2 intel quad core. It doesn't have any lag though. Do some googling, there is a ton of tweaks that can free up resources on computer. I typically can get almost double the performance out of a stock computer after tweaking everything. I would also agree with the above, that having the wrong resolution skin at full screen could cause the issue.

Tried Razers Gamebooster?

Did wonders for my machine - CPU meter barely ticks over, and latency is reduced to the absolute minimum. I tweaked my computer first using some of the suggestions, then installed Gamebooster, switched off all the recommended processes (inc windows explorer - the start bar!), and what a difference.

I can be meddling with tracks to my hearts content, with no lag, no distortion, no corruption.

Its like magic. And free!

I have seen this too on XP. Seems to come and go for me.

One thing though is the processing for the wheels, scrolling, and other things on main screen seems to happen in the application (main) thread.

So anything that will tie up the main thread is going to produce some lag it appears.

For example, start a song playing and bring up the config dialog and everything should pause briefly.

Now outside of that, it can happen on it's own and have not tried to pin it down and I can't reproduce it right now.

Next time it happens though I will see if I can get a handle on it.

Also the main screen graphics processing should probably be in a separate thread. Just appears to me that it's not but don't know for sure.

Which version of 7.4, are you using, pro or home?

Im using 7.4 Pro b453 version

Possibly related to use of WM_TIMER messages ? 7.4 Pro b451

Shot in the dark. Do you have tool tip disabled in options?

I tried to enable and disable tooltip - no affect to the problem.

I had something similar to that on my old vaio laptop running xp. The solution was installing an older video driver it fixed the issue for me. Also for an i5 your CPU is way high.

Please register your Pro serial number to your account http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then download the latest version from the Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

If you have not purchased VirtualDJ Pro then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html (Especially if you are working DJ and are making money as a result of using it at your gigs.)

Recently updated to version 7.4
Toshiba Satellite L655 on Windows 7 Home
Denon DN-S3700 (X2)
Prior to update, system worked fine. After update, system will lag on "Scratch" mode and the track will play back at normal speed on "Bend" Mode. I restored factory setting on both hardware and software without a change. Any ideas?

I had that happen on my older Sony laptop. I actually had to load an older driver for the video card once I loaded the older driver it worked perfectly

Make sure that you have the latest firmware from Denon loaded on the DN-S3700's and set Jog Pulse is set to 2960/Cycle.

The mapping has been updated in v7.4 to support the higher platter resolution.

Please see http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/DN-S3700.html
