I have a support ticket open to work on this too, but thought I would throw it out to the community-at-large in case others have had a similar problem...
I'm setting up my new laptop and getting it show-ready. I bought a Sony VAIO E-Series with an AMD Radeon HD 7660M (2gb) video card, however under the video tab of the config panel, all that is listed is Intel HD Graphics 4000.
I remember this happening on my old laptop (a Gateway with a NVIDIA card in it), and the solution was to open the graphics card control panel, go into the specific program settings, and force Virtual to use the high end card. With that switch, the NVIDIA card would show up in the Virtual config panel.
I believe I've changed the AMD equivalent of this (Catalyst Control Centre -> Switchable Graphics Application Settings) yet when I load Virtual the only option available under video config remains the Intel Graphics.
Windows 8 is stressing me out enough without worrying about this too! lol Any thoughts anyone?

Try setting it to Fixed Mode, also check out this patch at the end of the thread for ATI / SONY / Windows8:

Also try to right click on VDJ and select open with the ATI card, if the ATI card has that issue.

Djoddity, I have a "similar" post in the plugin section. Not the same card but an AMD. http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/179749/VirtualDJ_Plugins/Can_t_get_newer_transitions_to_work__.html
If you haven't already turn off live tiles on your start screen. Also if you get an optional windows update for the intel graphics don't install, It conflicted with Catalyst Cntrl and had to reset windows, driver rollback didn't work.
YK23, tried your suggestion but I don't get that option when I right click VDJ, so I'll just keep using Catalyst Cntrl Cntr.

Any fix for this yet. I am having the same issue with a new Sony Vaio with Windows 8 Pro 64 and can't get the AMD Raedon card to be present in the drop down menu. Only Window and Intel 4000 which doesn't work when hardware accelerator is checked. However, if checked no features work. Need help ASAP
