Hello DJ People,
I was wondering what the copyright was on the video effects plugins?
I have to do a project for uni and I was going to mix some music with some video effects but don't want to get done for plagiarism.
Cheers

I think giving credit in the footnotes of your project, would be sufficient. How are you able to mix video, and use video effects with the version you have?

I would read chapter 17 of the USC it deals with the fair use act
http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html use this link for its entirety
read this for a breif of its limitations http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/107 as a rule of thumb. But I would just read the whole thing in the first link. As The second link gives you more of an idea what to look for what is all detailed
For Uni. work I typically include this 17 USC § 107 but honestly.
It depends on your university and your course how they want things referenced. MLA format is sketchy on how to reference things on a video
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
But as a general rule of thumb for college works, you do not need any permissions from the author/creator yadda yadda.. you just have to cite your source. So check Purdues writing lab for reference on how to do that. (I have always gotten away with doing a scrolling credits at the end with some sort wordless music file for the credits clip (just like the end credits of a movie) You can make the credits scroll as fast as you would like just make sure the words are still readable.)
Also. While you can use virtual DJ to mix and record clips. I would suggest use some different software depending on what computer platform you have such as imovie if mac or windows movie maker.. both should be free software (freeware). And frankly will be time savers unless you just happened to be super saavy with Virtual DJ.
I have used Virtual DJ PRO to mix and manipulate audio while using the record feature to save the Wav format.
And Have used personus Studio one with the Audiobox for input recording to my laptop.
Their are plenty of free programs to record things on. And usually for college presentations they do not require you to go to the level I may have to do a video presentation or make a video for class. I just happened to have these things and pro audio interfaces and microphones software at my disposal.
