Heya Guys im Alex :) Have got my first gig on Friday at a student bar, will be Djing down there every week :).
Basically wats the best setting to have the volume on? I mean theres so many volume controls!
Im going to be using my Hercules Rmx with my laptop, connected to a Pa mixer, amp and speakers.
Wat would be the best setting for my laptop volume?
My Master output volume on my controller?
Deck A and Deck Bs fader?
The Pa mixers volume?
The individual speakers volume?
The Amps Volume
WHY IS THERE SO MANY VOLUME CONTROLS! Haha
when im using my home hi fi, if its playing low volume it sounds kinda distorted but if I crank the volume up on my amp and laptop its nice a clear :/ weird ay?
Any help would be appreciated guys as its my first gig and don't want it to sound distorted!

mate that will depend on the size wattage ect of your gear and size of bar.
i always turn amp up all the way the use ,aster volume on rmx to adjust volume

Ah ok mate, im not sure of the wattage they look like mobile disco sort of speakers and huge pa mixer. Wat about the volume setting on my laptop and the speakers themselves?

Use the VU meters. Make sure that none of the meters anywhere in the system are in the red.
Exactly where red is will vary depending on the kit, but set everything up so that your average level is 0dB.
If the PA mixer has a limiter, you might want to turn that on to give you a safety blanket if the signal does get a bit high. The newer versions of VDJ have a built in limiter too.

I use a external mixer and I myself set the gain on the channels 2 or 3 leds (on the skin) less than full, I have the laptop on full, my external mixer I use as directed (0 to +3dB) I then set the amp to a comfortable level with these given settings.
I was under the impression that almost everything should be set to 0dB with the amp setting the volume and using the mixer master to adjust fluctuations, (that way you get the best SNR
