Hi Everyone !!
I've been experimenting with combining old and classic with new and modern tracks. Within each session I'm also including different genres, e.g., Soul, R&B, Trance, Rave, club, dance, techno, rock, and disco. From the website below, I invite anyone to download the sessions cost-free and certified virus free or to listen while browsing on the net.
In return I welcome any comments, suggestions, insights, critiques, or criticisms you may care to make.
I'm also interested in anyone who specializes in hip hop and who has mp3 files I can listen to for insights as I find this genre, with some exceptions, largely unmixable. Please, no top forty.
Thanx !!

wow
Im a deejay in the deep south (alabama) 90% of my mixes at the nightclubs are hip hop/urban dance. The trick to mixing hiphop is bringing in your songs in a 4-8 loop with no base, and fade base in on the new track and drop base on the other. Ive mixed house and electro, etc and Im just amazed at how hard it is for other deejays to mix hi hop.

so last night when I was mixing I guess I was doing it wrong while mixing: "love more" into "salt shaker" into "we can't stop" twerk remix into "timber" (transition 105-130) into "harlem shake" (rick kraft edit) into "respect remix" into "palmas arriba" and so on?
and I don't think I looped on any of them. did some blends, a couple hard slams, and looped out into an instrumental intro on one
there is no one certain trick to mixing whatever genre. use what works for your crowd

the sad thing is that at work I don't let them call me a dj anymore.
i'm just J.
I even put J on my timecard where we're supposed to write in position.
mostly cause the CPA who does the books is a little old lady from the bible who wasn't amused when I put different positions from the kama sutra there for a time.

@Walt - when your management says to close 25mins early instead of at 3, and everyone in the building is still dancing and you ask them if they're tired yet and they shout back "NO!" then yeah - was doing something right.
@Chuckles - look up "white mutiny"

the last 2 clubs in NJ i used to ask myself where the feeble minds got enough electrical energy to
keep those bodies functioning ............the cranial removal procedure is usually covered and a quick office procedure
with a local, 'course sometimes they have to get a block 'n tackle or even a crane for leverage......
i'll bet obamacare doesn't cover that ......
