Tópico: advice on dj controllers

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Hello, I am new to DJing and I am looking at getting a controller. I do not have a lot of money to spend, probably max of around $250. I would like the controller to have good responsive jog wheels mostly, and basic functions. This would not be a total starter controller though because i am not totally new to this. i need something to beat match and if possible have some effect buttons. I have been using virtual dj home free edition a lot and i love it, so i would like the controller to come with the software because i find it to be very fun to use. Also of course it would be nice if it was a pretty looking one because it is nice to see the buttons in the dark and a dj has got to look cool as you all know already. i would appreciate any feedback greatly. Thanks so much!

Pioneer, Numark, and Hercules, are just a few controllers in your price range, that come with VDJ LE version. My advice to you, would be to go to retailers near you, and play with as many controllers as you can. You need to get a feel of the layout, controls, features you need, and those you don't need. After you pick a controller, or two you like, then you can ask what we think. This is a personal choice, and we can only tell you what our experience has been, not what will work for you.

I agree with the other two posts,

Probably the American Audio product. will best suit your needs. for the amount of money you are wanting to spend..

A man and his music does point out some other brands, and gave you some solid advice. Play around with some of the different controllers in that price range to get a feel for them and how they react and how they are built.

hey thanks for the great advice. i really like that american audio controller and it seems like it would suit my needs perfectly. i read up on it a lot and it looks sweet for some DJing. not to mention its pretty dang durable which is a good thing for me. Just making sure though, the LE version is allowed to be used at gigs right? i will have to have some cash flow first before i can upgrade to pro.

Yes you can use the supplied LE version to play at gigs.

Do not buy a controller because it "looks" nice and "seems" to do this or that. You should be able to touch the controller, and see how it response to you. It may look good, but what if the cross fader is too loose, or the wheel is too sensitive? Maybe the controls are too close together. You won't know this until you touch it.

i use hercules 4mx and love it. for being such a simple setup this unit is awesome with vdj. response time is excellent with the software and the soundcard is excellent with my nx55p's. everything is sooo tight! i used to have the hercules rmx that was also tight but upgraded for bigger jogwheels. the 4mx in my opinion is worth double what it is sold for.
