So I have had DJ Detruence for years now, a hard-to-read blend between Detroit & Influence. Most people when trying to read it need to ask how to pronounce it or when told to them ask exactly what did I say. I've been brainstorming for weeks and these are the 2 replacements I had in mind;
Jonny...my name is Jonathan, people have always called me Jon/Jonny
-or-
DJ-YO...I have some Jew in me and Yohan I guess means Jon in Hebrew, Mother and a few others has always called me Yo for short.
I kind of like DJYO more but I'm not sure I want DJ in my name anymore, and thought that the Yo part made the whole name sound Asian. Jonny is what I've been leaning towards the past few days but I've been trying to come up with a 1 sylable word/phrase to go before or after Jonny (JonnyRad was one :/ ), just haven't thought of anything that I loved...so Jonny it has stayed.
I know 'DJ Name' threads are frowned upon, but I think people that know me already have a connection with Yo or Jonny so they choose what they know. Just looking for some strangers input, since hopefully a lot more strangers will hear this than friends!
Thank you,
Jonny/DJYO/DJ Detruence

I had the same problem; people asking me to pronounce. I just changed my name to something simpler. The caveat is that a lot of DJs have the same name. The lesson is to find a name that is easy to pronounce and it also has to be unique. Good luck.

^ Right...that's why I was looking for that short one sylable word/phrase to make Jonny unique. Would have never thought I would have this much trouble finding one.

I would go with just Jonny and say f*&k it. But not only is it not that memorable, I know I would have to get different website/twitter/facebook handles... I'm sure Jonny is already taken for all the above lol.

Really?
Anything 'may upset somebody'...Brian.
What do you call someone who hates censorship? That'll be my name.

Just doing my job sir, foul language wont be tolerated.

Actually, the use of foul language is frowned upon and really is not necessary or wanted on these forums, you got to remember we have people of all age groups and multi cultural backgrounds who may be offended by reading such text, please be respectful to these groups.

And changing a cuss word is NOT censorship, changing or hiding the topic all together is censorship.

Anything you say might offend somebody. I'd rather be a part of a forum that doesn't restrict everyones opinions to try and maybe not offend someone else.

DJ Yo.. I don't feel that name. Anyone saying Yo is kind of like Ghetto. How about DJ Johnny Blendz.

@Detruence, it's not your opinions that is causing offense, it's the language you are using that is the problem. I'm sure you wouldn't use foul language if you were in the same company where there are children or females, those same rules out of politeness and courtesy are applied here on the forums.
Anyways, back to getting your name change...

Howabout DJ J-Tru?
I'm pretty sure that these guys have gone through the same situation, so listen to them
You're right. Anything you say could offend someone, and that's why there are rules in place to keep the forums on topic, and polite.
