V8 hasn't auto detected my setup for a while.
Auto detect is selected in the options.
I am using a mc6000 as a controller. If I don't have the controller connected I have to manually select Speaker in the Audio Setup, so I can hear the music through my laptop headphone socket.
Then if I restart vdj later with my mc6000 connected it doesn't change my settings automatically.
The controller shows in the Audio Setup section, but it doesn't automatically select it.
I thought it used to detect your setup and change your audio settings automatically.

You can save your own custom configuration at the bottom right corner in audio setup.
If you want to use PC speakers instead of the controller master out.
If thats what you meant, not entirely sure I understood you

It's not easy to explain, but if I am just playing songs through vdj on my laptop, I change the settings in the Audio Setup page on vdj to Speakers. This lets the music play through the headphone socket on my laptop.
Then later if I restart vdj with my mc6000 controller connected. The controller shows up in the Audio Setup page, but it is not automatically selected as my sound card. I have to manually click on the mc6000 icon in the Audio Setup page.
Is this how it is supposed to me. For some reason I thought that once it detects your setup, it automatically configures the settings to match it.

Should, but there is also the logic of saving last used settings..
Try this :
- in the drop down far down right corner in auto settings, choose "auto-detected"
Restart VDJ and see if thats working well.
You might have saved your PC speaker configuration at same places, say as "config 1" and this being used as the remembered last state

The auto detect option is missing from the drop down box in the bottom right corner.
Can I get it back.

Have tried both suggestions already and no luck.
When I do a re-install I think I may have to select the option to delete my settings, playlists etc.
I will do this after the weekend.

Noooo don't do that! You will loose everything. Database, playlists...
Just delete or rename your settings.xml if you want new clean settings.

Is that the one that is in My Documents - Virtual dj - Settings
If I rename it can I put it back later if I change my mind, by renaming it again as settings.
Also does this affect my custom keyboard mapping, or is that a something different.
Thanks for you help so far.

Sorry for the late response.
Yes, thats the one file and of course you could rename it back if you want to.
All the mapping is stored in another folder and seperate files, so the settings.xml won't affect the mapping files.

All re installed now. I have also added my folders back, mappers, cache, database etc.
But even though vdj detects when I connect the mc6000, it doesn't automatically change my settings to make it work. I have to do this manually,. Is this how it should be or is something not right.
Also, there is no auto-detected option displayed in the lower right corner of the screen menu.
It's no real problem either way, as everything seems to be working once I select the mc6000 option manually.
Thanks again for the reply.
