During our day shifts, we would like to create a long playlist and after 3 minutes of play-time fade from one song to the next, hands-off.
During our night shifts, our DJ would do that, as well as introduce the songs.
Does anybody have any ideas how that may be acomplished?

During our night shift, our DJ's would do that. Yawn, fart, scratch! My advice, turn on the freakin' radio, cause it doesn't sound like you want a DJ or to DJ.

Strip club style, it can be configured with automix, set up your playlist as normal then on another deck play a track with the levels down with action poi(s) 'mix now' @ 3m & 'goto 0s' just after 3m
