When VDJ 8 doen't work at a gig (you suddenly get a login prompt) because something went wrong with the "made to break" licensing model, and you don't have internet (which you almost never has where I play), your only option is to use VDJ 7?
When will Atomix fix this and change the licensing model for user who have paid full price for the SW, have supported it for years, and are depending on it to not be "made to break" at paid for gigs?
Best regards
Klaus Mogensen

Did you have this happen?
If it asks you to log in it means you either have an internet connection, or you didn't log in before.

There should be a hardlock dongle option available for those who want it (even at extra cost). With BPM Studio you could have it on multiple machines as long as you had the dongle.
This happened to me at a gig last month and I couldn't use V7 as I have the Pioneer DDJ-SX2 which isn't supported.
I now only use V8 on one machine which means no backup.
It's certainly not an ideal solution but it seems that cracking down on illegal users is more important than supporting long term honest customers like us.

Hi Klaus,
there's a "belt&braces" workaround by copying the licence.dat as a backup, you can find more details here(around page 4)

I tried that and it didn't work.

I just renamed my licence file and VDJ asked me to login.
Closed VDJ, renamed licence file back to it's original name and VDJ didn't ask me to login.
So this works at least temporarily. Don't know if there is a date in the file, that will expire and you will have to login after let's say 30 days.

Only the subscriber license would require the user to login prior to each renewal date. The Infinity license does "what it says on the tin" - it lasts forever.

The licence file should last for say 30 days without expiring. Only being able to work on one machine at a time is a PITA.
At $299 I don't fancy buying an individual licence for every machine, although it seems that is the way it is going!

I believe that you can be logged in/use two machines since a couple of months.

Since the release of VDJ 8 we can log in and use two machines at once.
It's the "online" part that follows the last machine logged in - but it won't log the first machine out whilst it's up and running.
That first machine will only require you to log in again if you restart VDJ 8 #1 and allow it web access (at which point it will see that a second machine logged in).

A recent change however indeed allows 2 computers to keep logged in at the same time, even after restarting with both connected to the internet without having to enter your password again.

thx Adion for the clarification

Ah, when did this happen?

hi Groovin ... ages ago ... lol

I will try this later.
Why was this change not notified since there's a seriously long thread already about login issues?

The change only makes it a little more comfortable to use multiple computers, but it doesn't change the basic guideline, which is to log in when vdj asks for it.

I understand. Just makes it easier as both my main and backup machines can be logged in and I don't need to worry about turning up at a gig and not remembering the last one I used.
