Would it be possible to use the crossfader on my Denon X500 mixer and assign it to control the volume of sampler output in VDJ?
The mixer has a X-fader output jack and my controller, Denon HC4500 has an input for it.
But how do I mapp it?

Long story short: You can't :(
And the reasong you can't is that this control is used as a switch so that the HC4500 knows if the crossfader is all the way to the left or all the way to the right.
Typically this cable is used to start/stop the decks when the crossfader reaches one end or the other...

Thanx for a quick reply.
So, the problem is that HC4500 does not care about the x-fader position, but rather end points?
But VDJ does have support for it?

Well, I have to correct you :)
It's fully working as I wanted, after a bit of investigation.
The crossfader position is read by HC4500 and I assigned it to control Sampler Volume. (Since it's working to control video I thought it must be possible to control sampler)
But it seems for now I can only adjust the sample 1 volume even if I used sampler volume master command

LOL. It's been a long time since I stopped using my HC4500. Perhaps I confused it with fader start control (Fader 1, Fader 2)
Anyway, so you used "sampler_volume_master" as your command and it doesn't affect the volume of all samples ? Are you using VirtualDj 8 ?

Sampler_volume_master does not change the volume of any samples.
I'm using VDJ 7.4.2

This action is available in version 8 only.
In version 7, all you can do is to control the Volume of each sample slot independently or the default/selected one
with either sampler x volume or sampler default volume

Even If I manually select for example sample 3 , the volume slider change in sample 1.
Aha! I found something strange..
I have assiged the hot keys 1-5 to play samples. And when I press one of those keys the relevant tab in sampler mode goes green as it should.
But it does not change in the main window (default skin)
I need to change the sample in the small window - then the volume knob changes (and the slider in the sampler mode) changes. Bug?

i think you need to also select the sample
So for your sample buttons, you need something like...
sampler x play_stop & sampler x select

sampler x play_stop & sampler x select

You were quicker! Thanx - will try this! :)

I love the script commands of VDJ :)

...even if it did not work as it did yesterday.
Today - even if selecting a sample with the hot keys (sampler 1 play & sampler 1 select) the slider won't adjust the sample in focus. Just sample nr.1
But, then I tried with the crossfader to add: sampler 1 volume & sampler 2 volume & sampler 3 volume , will adjust all levels. A good solution?
Could it be something that affects which deck is active for the moment?

Sorry for the "thread-bombing" but I am close to what I want.
(You guys should really have a separate section of the forum about mapping stuff)
Now it works in this way, the crossfader affects the volume on the selected sample on left deck.
But, if I play a sample on the right deck, only sample 1 volume is adjusted (even if another sample is selected)
How Can I do this "deck independent" ?
One final mapping related question:
How do I change PFL with a command, to be able to see the graphical waveform "in top"?

try to add deck active before the sample actions.
So something like ..
deck active sampler default volume
but without deck definition, sampler x volume should work fine regardless if the sample 1 is triggered from deck left or right.
for the "graphical waveforms" can u be more specific ? Which skin do you use, which waveform do u want see at the top ? (screenshot would help)

Sorry, I mean the moving blue and red waveforms in top of the default skin.
I need a way to select which deck is "active" through my HC4500 controller.

i suppose any key that is available on both sides of your controller and mapped as .. select, should do the job.
