Hi I'm having trouble pre listening to my tracks. The sound only comes through my headphone if I have the faders up (playing through speakers) this means unable to mix tracks before pushing fader up or cross fade across. The cue button is lit so it's a head scratcher. My set up is master 1&2, headphones 3&4 via mc6000 wasapi sound card. Also I have done a live show and I haven't got channels 3&4 for the mic. So mic has only option 1&2 so no sound is getting through on simple cast only music. But main gripe is not being able to pre listen and mix tracks without the sound coming out of speakers! Any help appreciated by the way I had this all working a while back but a firmware update etc has messed evetything up. If it's not broke don't fix it! Thanks

Why are you not using the Denon drivers?

Master : DENON DJ ASIO Driver chan 1 & 2
Headphones : DENON DJ ASIO Driver chan 3 & 4

I don't use the Denon mic input but I believe it's hard wired. Don't try and set it up, it's part of the hardware mixer, just use it !
 
 
The denon wasapi plays music through my external amp and speakers. If I change to Asio they play through my lap top. So something is amiss thanks
 
I have 3 options on the drop down list for sound card:
Asio DJ controller
2- Mc6000mk2 wasapi
Laptop sound card
 
DJ Dad will check those settings later thanks
 
You need to download and instal "DenonDj ASIO for Dj Controllers" drivers. (Yes, that's their full name)
The are available on DenonDj website.
Then just press the "DENON MC6000MK2" button on your sound setup page and everything should be working fine.

A laptop sound-card is unlikely to be up to ASIO standard.
It's wise to specialize your laptop for its role as a DJ's tool.
Amongst other things, like a modem, I disable the on-board sound card in the Windows control panel.
Hence I could not get confused over the different cards !
The basic idea is to minimize the demands on a laptop to ensure perfect operation.

Actually that's a WRONG thing to do on modern systems...

The reason is that Windows will always use one soundcard (as soon as your system has at least one) as it's default playback/communication device.
When windows "take over" your soundcard as their default playback device, the soundcard will always report as "busy" (It can be used in shared mode with WASAPI drivers by any application)
However this makes the ASIO drivers to fail initializing the device as they demand exclusive access!

So, it's better to leave your laptop's soundcard ENABLED and make sure that windows are using it as their default playback/communication device!
 
I'm confused.
I not only disable the soundcard, but also the Internet hardware.
Also I used to disable a lot of services by hand.
The laptop performance was stable with no problems !?
I might be changing a little, I have my second experimental laptop using the Internet, this makes me feel quite brave.
However not for general browsing.
I now use the vdj tool to optimize my laptop.

How do you define a modern laptop?
 
Mind you I did get a loss of my soundcard, maybe about 2, or 3 years ago. I restarted, and all was well.
So the windows default systems might have took control of the soundcard causing vdj to crash.
Like as not both drivers, and vdj have been modified since to prevent this happening.

Point eventually taken.
