Tópico: Database Damage - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Dont know whats going on here, but I came into work this afternoon, loaded my drive that I just used last night and plugged it into the bar's PC. THey just started using VDJ 8 ( I havent been in here for about 6 weeks due to personal reasons) VDJ 8 was not configured right so I spent some time getting that corrected. When i connected my drive back to my PC all the info was gone from the database, except for a couple of files. Everything (tracks) showed up as the time 12:34 - grrrrrrr

I then went to the truck, got my lappy out - copied the database file that I just used last night and copied it to both my other pc and the drive - but VDJ keeps loading it as 7/22 and all i get is the time. As we know this is extremely frustrating. How to I get the old database to show the correct info?

When you say you configured the bar PC, what do you mean? Did it ask if you wanted to keep the settings? Was your drive connected when you did this?

I dont know what they did...Ive been here for 20 plus years and its all $&%*$&#* up...the audio settings were messed up - the new house PC has 6 different sound sources - ive never seen anything like it...anyway, yes, my drive was connected when I was trying to fix the audio. But because I was working i had to bring my PC in and use that. so I disconnected my external and when I plugged it in to my PC the FIRST SEEN showed the time. it was the current time. I use FIRST SEEN the most and Im so lost now...is there a way to get my database from 7/18 to work? Ive been researching for the last few hours but nothing is working.

I'm sorry I'm a little confused. Are you able to see your files and play them?

Sorry. Im really frazzled, lol Yes. all the songs play. The tags are messed up. So if you loaded a song onto your drive last week and open VDJ under FIRST SEEN it would say 2015/07/19 when I did it today it just said 14:24 and all the tags that I corrected are back to their normal tag. I just want the info to show how it did last night.

Maybe one of the teamers could remote in to your machine and have a look.

I take it you'll have a recent backup of the database you can go back to?

Yes Krad...But when I copy it over to both my external and the VDJ folder on the PC - nothing happens!

It seems as though you have changed or deleted a setting, I thought you lost your database. Is your history gone? It sounds like you are also in a Gentlemen's club, What state?

LOL, yes I am. In NJ. I have only experienced this once in VDJ version I don't remember. Yes, my history is gone (this stinks)! AMAHM I honestly didnt do anything except eject the drive and plug it back in to a different PC, something I have done between my 3 PC/Lappys almost every day for years - So are you saying everything is lost, just gicve it to me straight Doc...

Ok, I'm going to give it to you straight. I don't know if it's dead, but it smells funny. I asked you earlier about a prompt that ask if you want to save some settings, or something along those lines. If you answered wrong, it gets rid of all of your settings. Now I don't know if that's the case, but it sounds like something that I did. What club are you in, I'm at Taboo in Linden.

I did not get a prompt. Awww man this is terrible...this really hurts :o( Is there anyone here who could put their 2 cents in before I lose all hope...I am at the Playhouse in Burlington. Im not really here anymore tho to be honest. I have only been coming in every 6-8 weeks now, because the other side of djing is keeping me busy enough that Im not stuck here and the other DJs are more than happy to pick up my shifts, lol.

Don't panic yet, maybe one of the smart guys can help you.

Ok. Hopefully someone chimes in soon. Thanks for your time and help AMAHM!

Ok. So I think I found the issue. The drive letter was changed from F to G. The tool that is available here will that correct the issue and bring everything back the way it was?

You mean the driver tool?
It works for history and playlist files.
However, your external database should still hold all infos. It doesn't matter if the drive letter changes or not...

First, please try to change the drive letter back to its former letter. You can do that in Windows. Just Google to find a tutorial.

If that doesn't help we have to see what we could do.

I did exactly that and while I was able to get most of the info back after changing the drive letter to what it once was I was not able to get all of it. So, I got a little creative. I opened up 7.4. That database was fine. I then copied my skins and history folders and removed VDJ 8. Reinstalled VDJ 8 and voila! Everything was back to normal. I then downloaded and installed the MY LIBRARY tool - UPDATE: back to the drawing MY LIBRARY changed the drive letter and changed the database...again

Looks like you're just confusing yourself here .......

I'm confused.

I don't see how My Library could change a drive letter.....

Maybe you installed "My Library" incorrectly. I followed the instructions in the downloaded file which seemed a little convoluted but it worked. After I installed "My Library", I had no issues.
