I use a mid 2010 MBP 15" i7 2.6Ghz. It is boot camped with Windows 7 for DJing.
Over the last few months at home, while sitting displaying the desktop, the screen randomly has shut down and gone completely blank in the same way as sleep mode or when shutting the lid. It has only happened a few times that are weeks apart. To get the screen back requires shutting and opening the laptop lid. If my MC6000 is connected at this time it loses the connection but all the buttons stay lit up. Refreshing inside VDJ8 doesn't work, the only solution is to shut down VDJ8 and restart it then everything is back to normal. I have checked and double checked my windows power settings which are set to never go to sleep.
I always worried that this could be an issue at a wedding and last night it happened!!! The screen went blank a few minutes before the first dance, I closed the laptop lid and reopened to find VDJ8 sitting there ready to go. As the MC6000 buttons were still lit I had forgotten about losing connection with VDJ8. I announced the first dance and pressed play and.......... nothing!!! In a panic quickly looked around at mixer volumes, etc., and clicked the play button onscreen with the mouse......... still nothing. More panic!!! Then realised the MC6000 fader was not moving the onscreen fader. I quickly restarted the song and pushed the fader up onscreen with the mouse.......... success. Immediately after the first dance while the audience were clapping I used the backup system while I shut down VDJ8 and restarted to re-establish the connection and kicked the dancing off with no more problems for the rest of the night.
I have no Idea why this is happening, I have sleep mode disabled yet it still goes to sleep randomly.
Anybody have a clue???

just a thought.
Maybe the AC Power got cut off and since Laptop is in FULL power, it drains BAT quickly and of course it will do what is supposed to.
Double check your AC adapter and then your BAT is good condition (5 years old lappy).
