Hello, I prefer virtual dj 7 over 8, I don't want to buy 8.

You can't buy VDJ 7 anymore.
But if you buy Version 8, the support is able to put Version 7 into your user account. You are then able to download it from there.

So I looked and the version of 8 i need for my controller is $99. If i buy that one, can I request a license for 7 or do I need to buy the full $299 pro license (which is unfortunately to expensive for me)

I would wait for confirmation from the active staff here, there are many, unlike a lot of product forums.
Their good guy's.
If you pay buy monthly subscription then only VDJ 8 is available, it might be the same for a controller license.
They might give you a good discount on the full software price based on your ownership of a suitable controller.
The system use to work by entering your VDJ LE license into their upgrade web-page, at which time you would be told the size of your discount.
At times the discount has been up to 50%, and VDJ is free with the top Pioneer controller !

I'm pretty sure you need the Pro Infinity version for 299$.
Even with the subscriber version you are not granted access to version 7.

I switch between laptop and pc, would it allow me to install on both?

The guys above are correct:
* VDJ8 Pro Infinity ($299) includes a license for VDJ7 Pro. It's the only version that does.
* The license permits you to install and use the software on two of your computers. Those two can change though, it's not locked to them forever once you have installed.
