On my system the vu meter at the top of the skin has disappeared , has it been removed in vdj 8.1 , I have Toshiba win 10, i5 16 gig ram ,ssd, focusrite scarlett 2i4, with or without the focusrite card running the vumeter is not there

ok found out why when I select external mixer it disappears I assume this is not a bug it just doesn't show up when connected to a usb sound device

No it's not a bug. That meter indicates the master output of the internal software mixer - so when you select external mixer it's not required.
Maybe some text in that area (saying "external mixer") would be a good idea....
IMO it would also make sense if the other mixer controls disappeared too. :-)
